2003 C-230 ignition switch help!
The other day i get in my car (which i leave unlocked) in my garage. When i put the key in the ignition, i cant turn the key, as if the key doesnt belong to my car. The day before it worked no problem. The key doesnt lock or unlock the car either. I brought it to the dealership and they charged me over 300$ FOR REPLACING THE BATTERY, and then they said it would be 1800$ to fix the ignition and switch and get a new key.
Im only 20 years old and living on a budget and there is no way i can pay that. What do i do?? please any help would be appreciated!

I had the same issue, and had around the same cost to fix it (was part of an larger repair, so it may have been a little more or less).
If you're living on a budget, you picked the wrong horse to pin your hopes on. It might be in your best interest to dump it now and pick up something more reliable - this is probably only the tip of the iceberg.

Hopefully, someone else wit a bit more experience will chime in, but I think that there is some coding that would be required to install the ignition into the dash. However, I believe that a Benz repair shop would be able to do it, if your mechanic does not have STAR or is not a Benz specialist, I would be hesitant to let them loose in this area.
