My new ash-tray mounted boost gauge with video
Hey guys, I just installed my new mechanical vacuum/boost gauge and I want to see if the readings seem accurate to those of you who already installed one your self.
It seems like I get alot of vaccum, is this normal? Check out the vid, and let me know what you guys think of the mounting and if it seems to be working right!

My gauge never goes into the negative, and goes about 7-8 under full boost.
I'm assuming you just used the "T" connection, correct? It's hard to think that you could mess that up, and since we have different engines, maybe it's ok with yours.
With the slushbox, how much can you actually see the gauge, though? It looks pretty well blocked by the stock knob.

Thanks! The install total took me about 2-3 hours. 2/3's of that was figuring out where I wanted it and how I was going to mount it. Once I got it all figured out, it was pretty quick. I am and forever will be Anit-Rice which is why I wanted to take my time and do it right. No rice for me!
The light does work and it is the easiest part to hook up as all the wire are right the for the lighter.
This install however DOES require you to cut out a decent amount of the bottom/back of the ashtray unit BUT if in the end you don't like it, or need to remove it, once you put back the actual tray part, it conseals all of the cuts and looks like normal.

Easy guys. Everyone should be able to do whatever they want to their car whenever they want. Do what you want and don't answer to anyone. No need for flaming. Doesn't look good for either party

Ok, let's parse this out.
First of all, the term "ricer" is not the best term to use. Even if you did not imply it, there is a racist component to it, which is why I do not use it.
And it also means different things to different people, which is another reason why I don't use it. It could mean tacky, or a show-only modification, or a thousand other things to everyone out there.
I've got a 2002 C coupe (separate thread here, as well as a gallery of pics of my car), which is fairly modded. So I'm not really hiding anything here. I do appreciate you going to the trouble to find my age, though.
I also answered leeer's question in this thread, meaning I was trying to be helpful.
I also drive a 1990 CRX which I use for HPDE and autox events, among other things. I don't really see what's wrong with Hondas, to tell you the truth.
My initial point to you was that your mods would be considered "rice" mods to many people here, so using that term in your post is probably not the best way to discuss things here. Yes, I didn't phrase it too well, and I have to apologize for that.

I just found it very odd since i was giving this guy good remarks for what he had done, but now that i know (Being a newbie) some terms are deemed offensive to others, i'll stay clear. to each own their taste
but i love mb world and glad that people can take back a step and realize were just here to help.. not waste time for constant bickering :P
thanks man.. it made my day we could get on the same page

Looks sickk!!!
Also Rice started off as a derogatory word (way back maybe in the late 90s or even earlier) but now RICE has evolved into Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement which basically means buying parts that have no true function for a car to make it look as if it is fast with no engine or performance modifications to back it up. Most often, these cars are made by Honda and driven by people (called ricers) who do not actually know much about the inner workings of their vehicle.
With that said, you guys think some hubcap spinners would look nice? PepBoys has them on sale. They have some that clip on the center caps and they spin. Thinking of buying 2 pairs!!! I'm stopped and my wheels still be spinnin yo!!!
What do you guys think?

FYI - a 2005 C230K has no more monetary value than lots of these Hondas. And 8000k = useless on any car.

As for the video.. Neat, I guess. The car has 190hp so I don't really see a point in it. But the CEL would drive me nuts. And there are people who still refuse to use seatbelts? Ahh some people clean themselves right out of the gene pool.

Not saying anyone shouldn't wear their seatbelt, because yes, you SHOULD wear your seatbelt.... But I thought I'd share that I knew someone who survived a car accident because he wasn't wearing his.
Flew right out of his window on impact, which saved his life. The car was destroyed.
Moral of the story: If you're not wearing a seatbelt, roll down your windows. Lol :P
Back on topic... I like the mod. It's good that you can conceal it.

Mine will record almost 30” Hg on overrun, though it’s more fun to watch it swing toward ~18 psi during favorable DA conditions.
leeer73- tidy work with your installation.
