When I do it, here's how it usually goes.
  • Pull into garage or onto any FLAT piece of pavement.
  • Use the MFD as directed in the owner's manual on pg 236 & 237 to cycle to "Check engine oil"
  • Wait until the display advises the oil level.

Sometimes, when the engine isn't warm enough or when the moon is in the wrong phase, it will say "OBSERVE WAITING PERIOD" or even more abstractly "MEASURING NOT POSSIBLE." When I get that last message I usually say "Would be if you gave me a flipping dipstick."

What is yours displaying?

I always start in position 1, cycle to the oil level menu, and then click over to position 2.

All you gotta do for your facelift model is use the up arrow keys on the wheel until you see the oil can, but you must start out at the odometer screen. Make sure the engine has been off for 5 minutes at minimum and that the car is level, the ignition turned on and it will say "Measurement in progress" - then give you an "Oil Level OK" message. For an accurate quantity you'll need to search the forum for how to engage dyno mode and you can see exactly how many litres of oil are in the sump.
