I am getting Upsolute Chip installed on this Saturday!!!

Hi all,
I am getting an Upsolute chip installed into my 2002 230K Coupe this Saturday, does anyone have any last minute things that want to share with me?
Like what I should ask the staff there and also what kind of precautions I should take before I settle for the chip?
I know about the pulley kits, I have no plan for that, I am not planning to do anything mechanical to my car yet, and besides, I am not sure about the out come of the pulley kits.
For me, the chip is easier, since I only live 7 miles away from the Upsolute dealer in Chino Hills.
Well, anyways, I will post the result of my trip to Upsolute and I am open to suggestion before Saturday, help me and support me guys!

Good luck! Would be nice if they'd dyno your car before and after... At the very least, try to dyno it after the upgrade. Please share with us any info you get before/during/after...

Happy chipping!

cool.....
are you planning to dyno your car prior to the Upsolute chip and after the installation..??
Although Mark's Dyno results have been published... I think the more dynos of before and after chip performance the better...

good luck...

I'm gonna look into upgrading the power on my car as well... but not yet.... since I am worry about voiding my warranty etc.

Maybe you could let me take your car for a spin after the chip upgrade, I live in LA and goes to Irvine from time to time.

I have been thinking about the chip upgrade but probably will wait a little.

If you do a dyno run I hope your car is stick! The auto curves are almost useless due to the shift bounce. I'd like to see the whole curve, not 3 or 4 as the auto produces. Let me know how you like it as I'm thinking about it very seriously and am only in LA so the drive is short.

Is your car auto or manual? Mark Cummings had it done to his wifes automatic. If the Chino dealer won't do the before and after dynos then go to EvoSport in Huntington Beach and ask for Vadim. They'll do the dyno for you with the Upsolute mod.

As for the pulley, that's where the real power comes in and it's reverseable.

My is an Auto

My car is an Auto, but I am planning to have the Dyno pull down with second gear, and I will set the Drive mode to WINTER.... so in that case the car starts at second gear and I will do the pull. I hope the Chino guys will do a dyno before and after, so I can see the difference. I will tell him I am from MBWorld, and if the results is good I will let you guys know about it. I think with that in mind, they will be easier to negotiate.

I will bring my digit-cam with me tomorrow, and take a few picture along the way to show you guys.

Thanks for the suggestions !

last time i heard, they're making a version that can switch on-the-fly from standard to chipped via a keyfob. the advantage is that when you take it to the dealer, you switch back to normal and they'll never know when running their diagnostics.

also, some people have said that they'd leave it alone but when they want the extra power, they'd switch to the chipped version.

from john achille
Also, the swithchable option. Yes, we are working on a similar product to allow switching between stock, and upgraded programs. Upon release, (soon) any UP'ed car can be retrofitted for the difference from chip price to switch+chip price so there is no reason to wait. (no savings, apples for apples)

I heard the upsolute and other chips are irreversible... correct me if I am wrong... something like they have to solder the original chip out and never be able to put it back...

OK, it's Sunday. How did it go? Do you have the dyno results? What's the seat of the pants evaluation?

I did not get it installed

I did not get the chip, because it might void the factory warrentee, but that is not certain, so I have to find out more about it before I install the chip.

Suppose that 2002 Coupe have a different ECU from the previous cars, so when it is open the technitian is able to see that someone has messed with the ECU, but according the Lanny from Upsolute, not every dealer will care about that, and the technitian might not every see it, if they are not doing anything with the ECU.

Question MARK CUMMINS, I have a question for you

Lanny told me that you were a MB Mechanic, can you tell me if you guys actually will notice the change made on the ECU and under what conditions?

If I just go in for oil change and basic service every 10,000 miles will MB see my ECU?

Thanks~

Post M.E. CONTROL UNIT

POLOJCP,There is NO way to tell that the M.E. control unit was opened if LANNY did the upsolute mod because I told lanny to use DUCT tape on the m.e. control unit (to avoid any SCRATCHES)
also LANNY custom made a TOOL that WILL crimp the m.e. control unit back to the original shape without any HINT of been tampered with ALSO M.B. cannot tell that you changed the
software(THEY CANNOT READ SOFTWARE)

AS for any TECH LOOKING for any tampering WELL they wont PULL the M.E. control unit out for any reason other than
to replace the control unit and the star diag system will tell the tech the diag codes to replace it for NO start/etc
so whats stopping you from the MOD?

IF you need a GOOD MERCEDES BENZ TECH I still have several
friends that work at FLETCHER and Laguna so let me know!!
They WILL work on YOUR CAR without asking any QUESTIONS!!
BTW the M.E. control unit is NOT that easy to JUST look at!!
its very tight to remove!!

AND to the QUESTION will they (THE TECH) know if its changed ?
YES BY DRIVING IT .....GEE THIS ONE SURE DOES RUN GOOD

i wonder the stock ECU fuel map can provide enough fuel for increased boost??

Upsolute + pulley combo will they run into denotation??

Mark can you get dyno WITH air/fuel ratio next time??
