Sorry, no, everything's smooth here. I do quite a lot of reversing (always back into spots at home), and never had this.

That only happens to me in the morning, when the engine is still cold, and after I start the car, I put it in drive or reverse right away. It shakes violently. But if I wait a little (like a minute) then it never happens. I also notice when the engine is not warmed up, it has a hard time shifting from 1st to 2nd for some reason.

might be the transmission oil is clumped up or low.

What do you mean by having a hard time shifting? Like, is it delayed, it holds out the gear longer? Do you let RPM needle drop before putting it into a gear?

GDawgC220 - yes it holds 1st gear longer. it doesn't change smoothly. it's like if you drive a manual, you'll hold 1st until to almost max rpm for 1st gear and then change to 2nd. and so there's a little jerk when it changes to 2nd. it's very smooth when the engine is warmed up.

I guess I don't let the rpm drop down all the way as if the engine is warm. I usually wait like a minute or so, so the rpm is still a bit high when I put it into gear.

I think the reason the gear is holding out a little longer is so that the "catylic converter" (spelling?) warms up faster so that emmisions are reduced. A cold converter doesn't work effieciently, so it holds the gear longer to warm it up quicker...i believe it's stated somewhere in your manual.

As for waiting atleast a minute after starting, your RPM needle should drop...average time is about 30-40 seconds. I think it goes between 10 and 5 range after it drops.

The rought shifting is because it's still warming up and once its warmed up, it should be as smooth as silk.

bad fuel pump LOL. I dont think there is anything wrong with your car. almost all the small engine cars do that .
