It's not like a turbo, where things have to wind up. The supercharger's directly connected to the engine and always ready to go. Any lag's probably the throttle and/or transmission, i think...

what kinda of valves are there for the supercharger? I think someone said there was a by pass valve, not a blow off valve? Is there anything that you can put on a supercharger to make that "woosh" sound?

A Supercharger can have a "turbo" BOV, many many aftermarket Superchargers use them.

to make a woosh sound why? i think youve been hanging around at the honda forum for way to long. . I dont think there is supercharger lag it dosent lag because it uses the engine to spin it. a turbo lags becasue it uses exhaust to spin it, the more the RPM the faster turbo spins.

This has nothing to do with a BOV though. The intent of the BOV is to relieve pressure built up by the S/C or Turbo so when you shift gears (or whenever you let off the throttle) the pressure is not still there causing damage over time to the intake and engine.

S/C's inherently don't have any lag at all unless poor piping or intercooler design leads to a spring effect on the boost because of too much piping or too large of an intercooler.

I was just wondering if there were any valves like a blow off valve for the supercharger. And NO, even though I did used to have an Accord, I'm happy to say that I didn't rice out the car at all, in fact, I was disappointed whenever I saw someone rice out that car (which I saw way too many times)

LOL....JCWhittney sells a cassette/CD with the sounds of turbo blow off valves, loud exhausts and race car engines. Go for it dude

(I sort of knew this would happen when 2Fast2Furious hit the screen)

Pardon me for quibbling, but there is some lag. The S/C does not come up to speed instantaneously, nor does the air in the system. It just seems like no lag compared to a turbocharger.

Robert...you're wrong! A supercharger is belt driven off the crank and therefor matches the RPM of the engine.

I'll let the engineers spell it out to you in more technical terms.

It depends on how you define "lag". If someone sees the time taken for the air to enter the intake, exit the supercharger, and go into the combustion chamber as a lag, nothing in the world can eliminate it.

I promised myself I wouldn't spend any money on that movie. I would just have a rice overload. I'd rather have rice as part of my dinner thank you very much.
