COLD AIR INTAKE~~~~
Took my car to a real track finally.
Wanted to do a lil mod before so i feel better about my lil 1.8 on the track haha
I decided to rebuild my intake
About a year ago I checked my intake fleece tubing and saw a huge tear, showing signs of sand and debris trapped inside.
I went to autozone, bought a plastic black tubing and used 3m High temp tape and 2 clamps to create a cheap replica
After a year the tape began to melt, the tubing shrunk and it was no longer air tight
Went to lowes and created a very effective and CHEAP cold air intake
I used wider aluminum piping, about an inch wider than the previous plastic pipe
To secure it I used the clamps and Heat-wrapped The entire tubing, Along with many other hoses and tubes like the cooling system and radiator hose. (not shown in pic just recently wrapped all I could lol)
Since Ive heatwrapped it all my engine temp has been significantly lower!
This is the finished product all heatwrapped, Not as pretty as unwrapped but much cooler
I want to buy a heat wrap with a more visually appealing color like red, but for the time being im glad the intake works well! plus cooler engine temps mean more efficiency..
This was my MPG just on the streets not highway, I was taking it easy on the gas but not driving like a prius by any means
4:20~~
I feel like there is a difference in acceleration, and response
I took my car up to a track in Riverside a few days ago
My lap times were better than that of a new camaro ss, and some older evos and tuner cars. I was surprised and very happy!
First time on a track not bad, Ill post up a vid soon

Took a pic in the sun of the engine right now all heatwrapped
the parts that I wrap are MUCH cooler after a drive compared to anything unwrapped
added some zip ties to make the intake even more solid, I want it to last
I also put one on the coolant line, it seemed unsecure as well

How did you get the piping to sit properly on the opening? its easy to make it sit properly right where it leads in to the intake box but the other side is hard. How did you make that sealed tight?

Once the piping was in position I stretched the outer rim over the intake inlet attached to the front grill and the outlet going into the airbox
I used the Heat wrap foil to get a base tape layer on one end (as shown in the 2nd pic of intake)
Then I wrapped the other side, Made the fittings snug.
Then I wrapped and rewrapped about 4 layers along the whole tube, and about 6-7 where they connect at the ends.
Then I added the clamps right over the hard plastic where the aluminum tubing was stretched over.
Couple zip ties to hold it in place ( it was already really sturdy but I wanted it to last a very long time )
Hope that made sense... so tired lol

Sittin on 18's Real AMG wheels, came off an E55
Tires are continentals, much bigger, 245 up front and 265 in the rear
^^^Love where I live
Needed spacers to clear front calipers, went with 5mm all around, also got a new set of extended lugs
Love that spaced look
I think they blend so nicely with the w203 body
`````````````````~~~~Also removed the plasti dip on my side mirrors, and side skirts
Considering an upgrade, Im on the fence between selling my 230 and getting a bigger engine benz or just putting more cash into my 230 and making it beautiful. (bi xenon headlamps, euro side markers, s class tail lights smoked ect..)
Test drove and E55 AMG and a C32 AMG
Love both, the E55 was a bit pricey but very nice and well maintained
the c32 however was beaten up inside and out, but only selling at 12k..
Both fun to drive, but what I REALLY want to drive is an 04+ C55 AMG
I think it would look sick if you powder coated those wheels gun metal, gun metal just seems to flow nicely with our cars. BTW why are your front and rear center caps different colors? Anyways new wheels are a nice up grade, I like them, must be nice to not have bent wheel too haha. But I agree that a C55 would be the best of both worlds, get the reliability and small sportiness of a C with the crazy power of the E55. I have seen a couple of C55s on sale on the form in the past few months, Michael Kunzi is still selling his black C55 I think, good luck buddy
Damn, lookin good harrison...any issues with the 245 up front? Peydidy is correct, Kuzni is looking to step up to an E63, as well as others that are moving on. Good time to be looking for a C55. Coming up on a year with mine and don't regret the purchase one bit...best of luck!
Just wondering dre5373, hows the gas milage on the c55s? I had thoughts of upgrading in the past but the value on my c230 is crazy low that I just couldn't part with it, c55s are amazing cars thought
I have to agree I was tired of the bulky 5 spoke
Haha id love to get his ride but man too pricey, I wanna sell mine and only have to spend a few more thousand..
Gunmetal is nice I have to agree but the alloy color on these rims I love, at night it looks almost Pewter!
Maybe one day we will be rollin in the 55's
C55 plasti'd OUT! lol
Yeah the 245 up front rub a bunch on any sort of dip or bump, my fenders are chopping up the tires as well.. Need to buy some 225 up front.. just dont feel like dropping another 400 at the moment
Kunzi has a sexy car wish I could afford
white and whiter
if you just got the tires that came off the E. that is way oversized front and rear. your speedometer's gonna be off, mpg will suffer, and rub all over the fender.
sell the tires and get some proper tire size. there's always cheap brand like Nexen which are decent for the price around $400 a set or less.
Yes they do rub quite a bit up front, But my mileage and speedo seem quite the same ?
I dont think anyone would buy these tires as they have a lil less than half tread and the front are getting chopped up by my fenders
I got quoted 315 with installation of some nice Toyos
I like the fat look of the tires in the back with the 225 up front I think it would look pretty cool and give the front a lil drop, what do you think Frank?
