ESP MALFUNCTION CHECK COOLANT CEL
Hello all. Got some problems that I would like to get your input on. Yesterday I started my car and 2 malfunctions came up. The "ESP VISIT WORKSHOP" and "CHECK COOLANT LEVEL" turned my car off and back on and they went away. So I thought it might be the battery acting up because it needs to be replaced soon. Today while driving my CEL went on. What I would like to know are all these problems possible because of a bad battery and the battery not powers in the sensors for esp, coolant, etc.? Haven't had time to run the codes yet but I would like to get some advice.

Check coolant level first, if its below the "line", just top it off with prestone zerex...same coolant the MB dealerships use. I think its around 15 bucks a gal.

The sensor for the coolant and windshield reservoir fails pretty regularly. If it keeps popping up and you've verified that the level is ok, it's a possibility.

You're 1/2 as S-class doesn't leave us much to go on. Tommy is right about the coolant and wiper reservoir, but only on the pre-facelift cars. Each iteration had its own issues and we can't tell what your car is. Might want to update that.

Do you have the adapter wires installed on the cam magnets? The ones that leak oil into the wiring? With random warnings like that that seem unrelated, I couldn't help but wonder.

Yep I had the dealer do that under recall in May I believe. My car seems to be running fine. Is there any way to pull the codes from the car without a scanner? If I unplug the battery and plug it back in would the CEL go away? Im just trouble shooting until I can get a friend over here with a scanner to pull up my codes.

You can take it to Autozone or Advance Auto Parts to have them pull it. I don't recommend unplugging the battery as other things could happen.

I went to auto zone and had them pull the code... It read coolant thermostat. Now what I'm wondering is... If I get a coolant flush would that possible fix the engine problem or would I need to get a new thermostat too? I want to do it at the dealer and really don't want them to charge me the $104 for the diagnostic when I already know what the problem is, but I don't think they'll just fix the thermostat by me saying... "Thats the problem"

If you get it done at the dealer I don't see how you'll avoid it. The thermostat is a cheap part, I paid $29 for it from Mercedes of South Atlanta. My indy installed it for $112.
