coolant everywhere

haha today was a crazy day...i tried replacing my t stat today

and when i disconnected the hose from the t stat housing... coolant was gushing out like crazy..and i read here u only lose like a few liters

but their went my whole tank of coolant on the garage floor..at this point im pissed and freaking out

is this ok for coolant to be on the supercharger sliencer? the pulleys and everything else? i havent started the car so its gunna be drying overnight and i havent replaced the stat itself hahaha

SD3,

I would very very very gently ( a dribble) hose off the worst of the coolant from your belts & pulleys before it dries. It should not hurt the rubber but is sticky stuff & may cause slipping belts .

I cannot comment on the S/C silencer as I have not seen one.

I spilt a little when venting the system on a transverse engine & did not hose it off. It siezed the clutch to the plate ( manual trans) .

Best to clean up before it dries.

JC is correct. The glycol in the coolant is safe for rubber etc. Just wash it off & dry. No harm done to anything.

Did you let the engine cool down properly & depressurize it before pulling the hose?

Oops! Must depressurize or it will spurt coolant all over the place. Can't have been ice cold.
