Arm Rest Box problems

I noticed I am having problems with my arm rest box (in between the driver and passenger). When I open the large section, I have no problems. When I open the top part only, the handle instanly becomes locked when removed from the box so I cant close it without slamming it shut. Does anyone else have this problem?

We can gently close ours by just keeping the handle lifted up while shutting. Otherwise, it takes a little pressure (but no slamming) to close it.

Its actually at the point that I need to slam it...sometimes so hard that the bottom box falls (when its raised). I also noticed that the material near the lock on the box is wearing down to the plastic (the fuzzy material is gone)

Mine works normally now. But I did recall a couple of hard closures a long time ago. It was due to the misalignment of the clip. Open it and look to the inside, you'll see a plastic knob thing on the clip mechanism that you can play with and then re-align it.
