Drain ATF Necessary for Pilot Bush Repl?

It's the last thing yet to do before I break down and have the C towed to a local indy for what will likely be a conductor plate job. I have a replacement connector with the new o-rings but my fluid has less than 5K miles on it. Do I have to drain it to swap the connector? I don't mind dealing with a bit of fluid mess but I don't know if it will pour out once I remove the 7 mm bolt. If so, I guess I'll invest in a fluid suction kit so I don't have to replace the pan gasket.

No need to drain fluid. Only do job once transmission is cool & level at lowest. You will have a slight fluid loss but nothing you can't just top up. Try & raise RHS front of car higher than other 3 corners.

Glyn, that's the first good news I've had today, so thanks. I'll raise the RHS up enough to keep the ATF where it belongs. What will the rest of us do when people like you and Samaritrey take a holiday or decide to drive something less interesting?

THE C350
Don't worry Glyn and I are staying around for awhile. He just got a clk350 and luckily for us they are very similar to the w203 so glyn you are stuck with us! As for me I plan to keep my c320 till the wheels fall off but do plan to get a second car soon I can go reasonable like the new c250 coupe or go crazy and get a slk55 or g55 or something like that

+1^ I'm not going anywhere. Damn Trey - this CLK is complicated with all the crap on it & motorised arrangement to seal the windows on the pillarless design etc.
