What is the radio code?

I had my stock radio taken out of my MB 2002 C240 and replaced with the comand navigation system. I want to sell the stock radio. I found someone who was interested in buying it but he asked what the radio code was.

does anyone know how to determine the radio code for the stock MB radio? Does it even use one?

You have to contact the dealer to get the radio code.

There is no code on these D2B units but the dealer may have to program the CPU to recognize the presence of the new radio (unless it is replacing an equivalent).

Yep, that's right. There's no code number. The only thing that you should have in mind is when the buyer installs it he/she should connect everything to the back of the head unit before turning it on.
Good luck,

Angel

actually, there is a radio code, and it will appear on a Vehicle Master Inquiry, however, they aren't used. pointless, but they exist.

The old style radios like in the SLK230 have a code. The newer radios like in the C-class done't have a code but if you power up the radio in a car other than a C-Class you will get security violation and the radio will say PROD on the display, I know, I did it and only the radio manufacturer can reset it, in my case Becker.

what is PROD?

After I installed something... hmm... either my cell phone kit or my CD changer... I forget which - anyways, after I installed one of them my radio displayed PROD. As I remember it only stayed on for a few seconds. What is that? My radio has been working fine and I haven't even thought of it until I just read this post so it's hardly an issue, I'm just curious.

Thanks!

I unwired my headunit, ran some cable behind it, wired it all back up...turned it on Says PROD and then shuts off...turn it on again, stays on but says NO CHANGER when I hit CD...deeler claims I damaged the D2B wire, but The VDO display in the instrument cluster and the steering wheel controls work fine, and I never touched anything near the changer. They are charging me $120 to fix it. Is it Bull****?

the D2B wires (thin orange wires throughout the car) are all fiber optic. therefore instead of sending electrons they send light. light doesn't do corners very well so you have to make certain that the cables are all very straight - as in not kinked - they can coil around, but there definitely cannot be any kinked. if you did the install of the changer yourself you probably noticed on the back of the cd changer that there is a stress relief for the cable on the back. the orange fiber cable is intended to wrap around this so as to not allow (or at least greatly reduce the chance of) kinks forming. before shelling out the 120 bucks i'd take everything apart and see if you notice any kinks. straighten out the wire and see if you can get it working while everything is pulled apart. take the changer out of the loop reconnect the system how it was before and see whether it all work. do some troubleshooting - if you can isolate the problem as a problem with one of the cables you can easily pick up a new cable for significantly less than $120. the shop is *probably* charging you more for their time than for the parts necessary to make the fix. at about $60 an hour (i think that's what my dealer charges...) i could easily see them marking this up as an hour and a half of work plus 30 bucks for the cable - if that's in fact the problem.

I got that message a few times while I was doing the Aux-in mod on the cassette. I did something wrong like turning the unit on without one of the connectors attached. I don't remember exactly what I did to get the message. It went away and works fine. No resetting necessary.
