Look in the "Events & Gatherings" section here for info.

I slapped on my summers two weekends ago at my parents' house in Doylestown. Is it really that much worse where you are? Take a chance - what's the worst that could happen?

Your stock rims are probably around 25-26 lbs each. As an example, my OZ 18" rims (the largest I'd recommend with PA/NJ's pothole "issues") are 18.6 lbs each, a savings of about 7 1/2 lbs at each corner, or a net 30 lb decrease in unsprung weight. When I took the winter rims back to their basement, I was surprised at the extra weight of the stock rims. Another benefit is that you can get wider than stock rims, and therefore, more rubber on the road, esp. with wider options. It's basically a win-win on all fronts, except your wallet.

Good info on those rims. Additional talking points for my indy. I'll see what he can do for me. He gave me a quote of $500 to do the scratches on my rear bumper and rear panel. I'll probably take care of that when I get the roof and trunk spoiler. Dude, I am 1.45 hrs away from Doylestown at least. I interviewed in Allentown and I know D-town is well past there. Had 6 in. of snow on Halloween 2011. Mild winter this year, though. Don't slight the Hankooks. They have carried me on these winding roads up here and I-80 through NJ.

My stealership shopping list

This is the letter I received for what they knew I needed. Since I didn't get the "B" service, they want to look at it further. The cracked rims is just curb rash. Not going to put my SA's name out there to protect him from someone on the forum thinking he's insane

Thank you for all of your patience and kindness in waiting to receive this estimate. It includes everything we discussed during our phone conversation, except the tire and brake information, you would have to bring the vehicle back into service so we can further inspect what would be needed. Please contact me with any questions.

Fuel Filter: $685.00

Rim (right front, cracked) $495.00

Camshaft expansion plugs (leaking oil) $165.00

Centrifuge cover (leaking oil) $245.00

All prices in quote include parts and labor. Sales tax is excluded. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for all of you patience.

Best regards,

The front centrifuge cover I am not sure about but I am sure it is cheaper even with my indy. Geez, it's cheaper for me to drive 2.5 hr to VA to have everything done than going to my dealer that is only an hour or so away in NJ

100k and climbing!!

I let out a big whoop today when I passed the 100k mark on I-80. I dropped my camera a few weeks ago so I couldn't take a odometer pic. Bummer!! Oh well, take my word for it. Very pleased with this machine. 100k and many more to come

Ya right? I saw when I started this thread in Jan. 12 I was at 85k. I consistently travel from PA to NJ to NY on a daily basis. Needed a vehicle that could eat miles like candy. I narrowed down to BMW and MB. I believe I made a wise choice Getting a fuel filter put in this afternoon to celebrate the occasion

Air filter and spark plug change

Funny thing when I tried to change my air filter and spark plugs this morning. Yesterday, I bought a T-20 Torx screwdriver thinking I was on my way to taking care of these 2 items on my to-do list. Well, I take my air box off. No problem. I changed the air filters. Yea!! Can't believe the stealers took me for $157 to change my air filters at 60k miles Oh well. Live and learn Now for the spark plugs. Didn't have the right Torx size screwdriver Does anyone know the right Torx driver I should get to finish my job?

Haven't thought about it. Performance or aesthetic? What would you suggest?

The fuel filter I need is an in-tank filter that is part of the fuel sender. Won't need that for another 40k+ miles. What I really need is that Torx screwdriver size to take off the coils so I can change my plugs. Or do they just pop off? Nothing in DIY about this.

Lucky you I have the In line filter..You need a torx to take the screws off the coils and than pull them out to proceed to remove the plugs.

Yes, I am on board with that. What size torx do I get? You not going to make me buy a whole torx set are you? Is that in-line filter still in box?

I saw in another thread to use dielectric grease on the plugs. Would you recommend this?
