2003 c240 sedan
w203 steering angle sensor OR clock spring
Guys,
I am a bmw guy, but was helping my friend who has a 2003 c240 sedan (date of manufacture 7/2002) who had a malfunctioning turn signal. Replaced turn signal, but in doing so I broke one of the six tabs on the part that is directly behind the steering wheel. I call this a clock spring, some seem to call it a steering angle sensor. It has a ribbon wire for all the steering wheel electronics.
Anyways, now that I reinstall everything, there is a grinding metal on metal noise (inside the cabin) when the steering wheel is turned. I assume it is because one of the tabs is broken causing the part not to sit perfectly flat/level. Not only did i break this tab when i remove the part, but I struggled for a good 10 minutes to reinstall the part, as it would not sit flush on the steering column.
Now, i get the srs trouble light as well as some traction control or abs malfunction indication ... so my buddy is angry.
Anyways, I want to purchase a new / used part, but I cannot find one on e-bay nor can i locate any websites where you can pay non-dealer prices.
Anyone have one of these sitting around or know where to get one. I assume that because i broke the tab, this is the reason for the grinding noise when the wheel is turned.
the part i need to replace looks like
http://www.ebay.com/itm/220901547823...WAX:IT&vxp=mtr
but mine has the part number A2035400045 9B51
Any information concurring the reason for my grinding noise inside the cabin being because i damaged this one tab ... or any idea where to find a new part, is greatly appreciated.
