What type of oil?

What type of oil should I use for my 2002 c240?

I have been using the Mobil 1 0W-40 but it's getting a bit expensive.

Oh my.. This is a sticky at the top of the forum if you'd just taken a peek.. But anyway:

Mobil 1 0W-40 is basically the cheapest and most widely available you will find. You're going to need to stick with it.

This is the thread merely five threads above this one:

More important question is, how many miles can i go with the Mobil 1 0W-40?

Last time i did the oil change i used Mobil 1 0W-40 and I have passed about 6000 miles since i changed it. Should i wait until 10,000? The car currently has about 85,500 miles.

Thanks

There is no reason why if you are using the M1 0W-40 and the proper fleece filter that you can't run 10-13k mile intervals. 6000 is definitely too soon.

Just how much are you paying for the oil? Here in my area it is $6.50 a quart from Wal-Mart and $8.99 a quart from an auto parts store - both reasonable. You might save, what $2-3 a quart by using the wrong oil?

Alas, it does not sound as though a Mercedes is for you. Not to imply that the W203 is an expensive car, but if $20-25 is a lot every 10,000 miles then I'm not sure any car is financially responsible.
