2007 6 spd manual shift knob

Does anyone know the proper way to replace the shift knob with an after market one and if a universal shift knob will fit? Thanks in advance.

A universal one that uses set screws instead of screwing into a threaded shift knob will work, yes. Depends on how well you want it integrated, though. Not rocket science, but they can be tricky.

I just went through this, as tommy said, if the universal you choose uses set screws at the base it should fit with no problem. if you want a oe knob style mount knob, choices are very limited. there are some at formymercedes. I didn't like any of them. I found a German eBay website that had an ok selection of oe knobs.

this is the one I was looking at, they said they would ship to the states for 45$. that totaled out to almost 200$. I ended up with a 30$ universal that matches the black cf wrap I did on my center console. good luck. let me know if you find anything better than I did, I'm still not set on my solution being permanent.

Are you guys replacing just the knob itself, or the boot to?
Mine looks like the leather boot is part of the knob.

That's the integration problem. Some cars have the boot and knob integrated like a WV family, and on some, it's easier to get a new knob that will work with the stock boot. It can be a real PITA.

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm just changing the knob, don;t have to change the boot.
