Vaeth Pulley
Anybody using Vaeth Pulley system www.vaeth.com?
How's the performance and reliability like?
I was quoted 1,755 Euro (before tax and shipping) for their base pulley kit without intercooler.
But I find this price tag is rather expensive as the more renowned Brabus K3 Kit is only going for 2,100 Euro and its inclusive of one Brabus Sport Muffler too.

The Vaeth pulley used to be popular on the SLK forums, now with the ASP pulley being very similar but 1/3rd the price it's fallen out of favor. It doesn't come with a chip from what I've seen (picture below). On the older C230 and SLK230's they did include a higher pressure fuel regulator. Here's a pic from someone that has it on their SLK230. Remember it's for the 2002 and older motors only.

The diameter of the pulley above is slightly larger than the ASP pulley because it was installed on a pre-2000 SLK230. On the newer 2.3L motor the Vaeth would have to be the same size as the ASP 10 PSI pulley or smaller to fit and not rub. The reason the older 2.3L can have a larger crank pulley is because the waterpump pulley is a different shape and doesn't interfere like on our cars. We dynoed one pulley that was larger than the ASP by using a larger idler pulley to move it away from the waterpump but it got the same HP/Torque numbers. Back to back sometimes the larger pulley was 1 HP more and sometimes the smaller pulley was 1 HP, all within the variances of the dyno and internal engine temp variances. To me, this proves that we have reached the limitations of that s/c and making it bigger won't make more power.

No. I know Linh is the only person I know of to do both size ASP pulleys and both Kleemann pulleys all on the same car but I don't remember if he dynoed the smaller pulley or not. You can ask him on the benzworld.org R170 forum
