how reliable is FSS? I have 10800 miles now and it says...

Hi guys,

I was wondering, I know our cars have FSS but how reliable is this system? My car has almost 10800miles now and it says 3000mi until service. Now I dont drive the car that much (Had it for about 8+months now) but when I do drive I typically push fairly hard. A while back (a month ago?) it said I need to add 1 qt. of oil on the computer measure but dealer said its b/c the measuring sensor need replacement (havent gone back yet). So my question is do I wait until 13k+ miles to do service A (or anything for that matter)? I guess I can assume that there are sensors inside to tell how 'dirty' the oil is as well Thanks for any info/input.

Just call your service center and set up an appointment. You don't have to wait for the FSS to tell you to go. If I was you I would have gone there when it said it was 1qt short. I had the oil sensor replaced 3 times for that reason (it tells me that the car is low on oil after I've driven on same oil for about 8000 and service replaces the sensor), but the fact of the matter is: these engines seem to burn oil.

Good luck.
