I guess it is relative. I wouldn't call it the deal of the century, though, but still a good deal.

For me this is a good deal since I like to use Mobil 1, not Rotella (just personal preference, that's all), and at least around here the 0W-40 is not on sale too often, nor available at my local WallyWorld.

So, IMO, paying $6.60/qt. is a lot better than paying $8.79/qt. PLUS, I get cheap Mobil 1 filters to use in my truck.

If you use Rotella, then this obviously is not a deal for you and you are all set.

Wal-Mart is evil, though. Don't tell me you shop there.

I agree with you, Tommy. But I will buy the oil for my car there.

My store won't do that return without a receipt. They will apply some formula and basically give you $0.50 back for the filter because they're assuming you just tried to job them for cheap oil...which you did.

How do I know this? I tried it last time they ran the promo.

Good luck pulling it off.

+1 on this. I don't see a deal here unless you have another car that needs a filter they sell.

My local AAP will swap out the M1 filter for the Mann fleece filter. I suppose someone brave could cut up both filters since the M1 claims to be non-paper. Their description about high pressure system compatibility over paper filters makes one optimistic.

If they do post back

GMC - Miata - Trek - P-Car
Stumbled across a $5.49+ special on Mobil1 which includes my preferred HTHS 229.5 specification 0W-40 blend.
The local O’Reilly retailer didn’t have any on the shelves, but a gent working the counter found plenty stashed in their inventory.
“We’ll receive another shipment on Wednesday if you need any more.”

Pumped another ~$100 into the GMC at Chevron with the money I saved. :)

Hardly worth the trouble. Wally mart has Shell Rotella 5w-40 approved oil, 21.67 for 4 quarts.

The gas to drive to Pep Boys would exceed the savings, and likely they won't have any.
Just missed the sale at Oreily where it was just over $5 as it will be again.

Are you sure that oil is approved? I thought that was diesel oil?

Mobil 1 rebate offer

Not quite the "deal of the century." Not bad though if you don't mind waiting on a rebate check.

Wait, I see Napa has 0W40 $5.99. Time to stock up

local Wally world

Had a sale on the 5 qt jugs M1 for $24.97. All the 0-40s jugs were gone. Went to Customer Service, they called the manager who gave me 5 individual qts for the same price.

All one needs to do is be nice to the CS folks and ask.

Too bad all the big boys are excluded from the rebate. Would've been nice to get $12 back without even needing the buy the Mobil 1 filter. I have plenty of filters for my truck to last a while, anyway...

Oh well... Time head over to Napa to get the 0W40 since my daughter's W203 is due for Service B in 3 days.

EDIT: Didn't go to Napa, but got two 5qt. jugs of 0W40 from WallyWorld for 54.xx w/tax. Saved a few bucks over Napa.

They never have the 5 qt jugs in my area. I might have to play nice to get this deal.
