2003 C200 Coupe
2003 C200 Coupe Project

Hi all,

I've only just discovered this site so please bear with me. I am looking for suggestions for mods on stock c200 coupe. I've had the car for about 1 year and am looking at replacing the wheels with new ones - but not sure on style or size

Also looking at replacing the audi system with touchscreen but no other ideas.

Any advice/tips on wheel type and size and other general mods will be much appreciated.

I've put a photo of the way car looks currently

Thanks for your input I've had a look at your car it's very impressive must have cost you a small fortune!

I'm in Sydney btw..

After looking online and through some of the photos on this site I've decided to upgrade the wheels (19") - I remember about 6 months ago I saw a c200 coupe in the city with 18/19" deep dish thin 5 spoke wheels - but having trouble locating them anywhere if anyone can point me in the right direction will be much appreciated.

Im also going to get the angel eye lights ($600 from thailand) and upgrade the tail lights to the newer ones ($84 online).

Have you (or anyone else) had trouble with squeaky front seats? I dont think its a spring issue, I think the noise arises from where the leather touches the plastic mould creating a very annoying noise which makes long quiet drives (usually with the mrs) very frustrating )

i try to stay open to all tastes, but be prepared to get some heat from others for putting bmw-style angle eyes on a benz. there was another member who did it on a coupe, but i forget his name... you should search for it.

I noticed the handling and mpg both go down when I went to 18's. I've had 16'' stocks, 17'' sports and 18''s on my car. I am thinking of going back to the 17''s because of ride quality, cheaper tires and less potential for rubbing (i like to load up my trunk).

I personally wouldn't make the sacrifice in performance, comfort & practicality to fit 19's... but there are members who have done it and made it look really good. (infected for one...)

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
Sounds like you are on the right track.
If you like better handling, springs, cup kit, or coilovers (in order of cost, low to high) and thicker sway bars.
How did you find updated tails for $84 AU ?
Can you post the link please?
Post the link for the angel eye lights too.
Curious how that would look.
One guy did a custom setup like that.
Got a lot of flack since it's a BMW only type thing according to some people,
but who cares about what 'some people' think?
It's what you like that matters.

Click the link in my sig for more pics.
My car is pretty stealthy.
All my exterior mods are basically later coupe parts OEM except the
Renntech style wing and clear side markers.
But under the hood, suspension and brakes is another story.

c200 coupe in workshop

Apologies for delayed response - car has been giving alot grief lately, currently in workshop for minor prang.

I will post the link when I get home tonight for the angel eye headlights, price is quite reasonable - the only issue I can think of is whether you feel comfortable buying online from Thailand. With the tail lights I had a 2nd look at the website (im embarrased to say) the price was only for the tail light surround not the actual tail light. But I will post that link also if anyone is interested.

Guys I dont know if this is off topic or if I should post this seperately, but recently the following msh appears on screen: "Battery alternator visit workshop", when this occurs the screen turns red, radio shuts down and engine revs really high (auto transmission). Has never lasted more than 8 secconds.

This only occurs when the engine is cold (not driven for 8+ hours) I've taken the car to mechanic who reset the warning but has offered no additional help - just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar, I know there a few similar threads out there but they all seem outdated and dont really provide an answer.

I can post a photo of the warning msg if it helps, any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

PS: c230 Sport Coup I am secretly admiring your car! some very nice work
