Australian Mercs are Eurospec Mercs - all the options available in Europe are available in Australia albeit a hell of a lot more expensive.
With that said, this console is not yet standard in the C-class (as far as I know). The control for the electric side mirrors is normally on the console containing the headlight switch but I think I have also seen it that new console as well.

JeT--> Would it be possible for you to scan in a pic, or take a digital pic, of the shifter console from an Austrailian 2003 C-Class sales brochure?
BTW, I meant to state the switch for the power fold in feature of the mirror is in the shifter console whereas the left, right, up, down controller is near the headlamp switch.
