Passenger seat in 2005 C230 K Coupe
Hi guys: Has anyone run into this? I took my car to Myrtle Beach last month, it's about 16 hours. We did it non stop and I did all the driving. My wife complained about her seat being terribly uncomfortable. When we got home I sat in the seat and it was amazing how uncomfortable it is. This seat has the mechanism that allows it to tilt when a passenger gets in the back and I assume that is the reason for the poor comfort. It feels like you are going to fall forward out of the seat.
I'd like to improve the passenger seat. Does anyone know of a product or "fix"?
I've tried a rolled up towel at the front of the seat and that has helped a bit.
I'm driving to Calgary (about 3200 kms) in two weeks with my 22 year old grandson and I (a) want to stay in the driver's seat and (b) have no wish to cripple him for life.
Any suggestions?
Thanks Doug

Yes, as LilBenz230 says the seat have a variety of adjusters for tilt, angles and lumbar support. Read the manual to figure out how to operate them properly. ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
That said, I have a female friend who has been frequently sitting in my front passenger seat for the past 3 years without any complaints,.... until a few months ago when she was pregnant (seems various female parts are more sensitive during pregnancy),.... anyway I'm not saying your wife, who is also the grandmother of a 22 year old, needs a pregnancy test!
We tried various settings on the adjustments but the thing that worked best was to place a folded fleece blanket on the seat along with a sheepskin rug (Ikea have them for about $25),.... she loves it, its so soft and luxurious. Now the tough part is getting her out of the seat,... her belly is now the size of a large beach ball!

Out Of Control!!
Yes, I'd have to agree with lil - sounds like you're only fiddling with the power portion of the "power adjustable" seats. You shouldn't have to resort to a towel on the seat to make it comfortable.
Sunny - I think that falls under "TMI".

Thanks Ray/Tommy & lil: The seats in my car (the coupe) have no power adjustments...all manual (legroom adjust/seat angle/backrest angle/seat height). Canadian car so the equipment may differ from US cars.
Anyway I've shown her how to adjust the seat and she actually found the rolled towel to be helpful (think of it as a moveable lumbar support for the legs), Ray it sounds similar to your folded fleece blanket but without the pregnancy.
I'll try the piece of sheepskin and roll it as it sounds more upscale than the towel I'm currently using.
The problem only happens during long drives so it may just be a personal preference. My wife has in the past complained of "Altima ***", "Acura ***" and now "MB ***". I love the car and I'd hate to have to get rid of one or the other ie car or the wife.
Thanks again for your input, I'll try the sheepskin.

Perhaps your wife has an *** problem?
The seats in the Benz should be more adjustable than the Altima or Acura.. I find mine to be almost infinitely adjustable on both passenger and driver side. It's great.

When it comes sheepskin rugs, the longer the hair the softer and more luxurious it feels. Ikea has the smaller and shorter hair sheepskin rug for about $25. Costco sometimes carry longer hair sheepskin rugs but I think its a seasonal thing. The attachment is the longer hair sheepskin rug from Costco; it covers the entire seat and over half of the back.
BTW, sometimes when a woman complains, its only because she just wants more attention. If she's complaining about her *** being too sore,... maybe she just needs a massage,... there,.... ok, now its probably TooMuchInformation !!!

I once had the seats on an older BMW restuffed.
They peel off the covering and add more cushioning.
Check around at auto upholstery shops.
Mercedes seats are a bit stiffer and less cushiony than some.
The sheep skin rug is a nice idea too.

Especially after 8 years of use, the cushions will be very hard.
That said, any 22yo in decent shape will survive a trip in uncomfortable seats. If not, they need to hit the gym and do some core exercises.

Thanks to everyone for your help and advice. I think the seat needs more bolster at the front. It truly is uncomfortable, I've tried it myself. I'm going to try the sheepskin first then a recover if I have to.My grandson is in pretty good shape, I think he wants to drive, not just ride shotgun.
Ray, thanks for your suggestion, I'm gonna try the massage thing too. Maybe as soon as I log out....

Oh,... another added bonus about the sheepskin rug on your seat is that the sheepskin will feel cool in the summer and warm in the winter,.. which is nice in our Canadian Winters.
And lying on a large sheepskin rug in front of a the fireplace is really romantic,.... and good luck with "the massage thing",....
