Help Please. 05 C230 Armrest Issues. It popped off.
I pressed the two side buttons on the armrest and the whole thing popped off. Before I would just press one button and one side opens up at time. I accidentally pressed both sides and now it popped off.
I managed to put it back with the pins and everything but when i press one button it pops open but it doesn't close up like it used to. Nothing looks broken though.. Maybe the pin mechanism is broken?
After spending a good amount of time on google search. this is a common problem with our interior.
Questions:
1) is it broken?
2) am i doing something wrong?
3) do you guys normally use it or just do you guys just leave it alone to prevent it from breaking?
4) When i press the two side buttons the pin doesn't really move inside i would have to press it down hard for it to kinda move in a bit. Is this normal or is it broken?

Thats so weird because the same exact thing happened to me. The first week I bought my car the same exact thing happened to me, I was still under warranty though so I took it in and they replaced my arm rest and CD changer because the magazine wouldn't come out. Good luck getting it fixed, sucks having problems right when you get a new car but this is pretty minor, I had to replace my EIS which cost me close to $1,500 and 2 weeks in the shop the first week I bought my coupe which REALLY sucked

Ha, I had loaners with those damn things, and they always come off.
Don't worry it's not broke, but there's a trick to doing it, like holding all the releases at once, play with it.
When you get it, it will hold all the points open so you can just put into place and let go.
You have to hold....uh...something...
I just figured it out.

Push in on the sides, and hold the front one, it'll lock the side ones...or
vs. versa.

Accidentally pressed both sides...
Don't worry, you're not the first to do this. A friend of mine tried doing this to my car once for no apparent reason and I yelled at him before he could do it.

yeah I guess by pressing one of the two buttons on the side holds the clip. Mine doesn't really hold the clip steady any more. I tried a few times and it would hold it once out of six tries.
Now that I have the lid on top attached. When I do open the main armrest compartment, the main part gets stuck. because the locking and unlocking mechanism doesn't close up all the way so it get doesn't open up unless i move it back and fourth gently.

i am now trying to replace it because of the combinations of problems with it =[. I wished I saw the problem before purchasing the car and make a note with the Belmont mercedes people.

You're correct. The 2007s had several things missing that the earlier W203s had. No anti-tow alarm, light switch surround in black regardless of interior color, no leather inserts (varies), no rear door side airbags, etc.

yucky stuff out.
I replaced mine with new, and then found that's all it needed, worked perfect after, and sold the old one to a forum member for $30!

Center Arm Rest
The left-side pins on my center arm rest broke for my 2005 C230 Krompressor. Basically they seem stuck and when I press the buttons the pins do not move. I have looked around on eBay, but no luck. Mercedes told me that it would cost $500 to replace it -just the top part, not the entire console. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it, or know anyone willing to sell one?
Thanks,
Brad

Not as hard as you may think
Its quite easy actually! Take off the armrest completely. On the underside you will see the 4 pins that goes into the housing to form the hinges, towards the back the curved clips that assists in the pivoting and towards the front, the tongue used to release the locking device for either the upper tray or the lower compartment. There is a sequence to follow. First push down on the front tongue. While down squeeze in the side buttons. Hold it hard. The 4 pins will retract slightly. One at a time push down on the back curved arm all the way back. This movement will cause the assembly to lock in place for install and the 4 pins will retract all the way in. Gently place the armrest cover in place and then when aligned correctly, press down hard on the back and the front. The pins will come out and fasten inside the housing and the curved arms will lock into place too. Operate as usual. i will try to attach some pictures. Hope that helps somebody.

Brilliant solution!
Thanks very much indeed, clear instructions, straightforward fix as soon as I read your post. Btw, my car is a 54 plate c200 komp est. That's the 3rd time I've found a solution to a real head scratcher of a problem. Live this site!
