2002 c230 coupe panormaic rear sunroof stuck
I just bought the car 3 days ago. When I bought it nothing happened. I manually turned the motor and that broke the front one loose or something cause that one tries to open now.
Any ideas on how the rear one can be fixed or trouble shot?
Also, let's say something is stuck in there... How can I inspect it? Remove the whole headliner? If the motor turns and nothing happens, that means something is stuck right? There's no band on these sunroofs that could have broken? Any advice helps. Thanks
There's a great post on here about the gearbox for the sunroof sagging, which causes the gear to drop too low and not engage the roof. This could be your problem if the motors are turning and nothing is moving - yet I would have expected when you manually operate the roof it would work.
If it is in fact the sunshades and not the glass, then the answer might be as simple as a broken guide. The sunshades are essentially spring loaded window blinds. If they are not attached to anything they essentially roll up (ie open) by themselves. The sunshades work by having a guide pull them out (ie closed) and those plastic guides are known to break.
Here's some info from the "other" MB forum, I could not find it posted here.

You'll need to go to one on Mon, and ask them for the stuff that gets the rear sunroof unstuck. I forget what it's called. While you're there, be sure to ask them to check your muffler bearings, as there's a recall on those right now too, and they'll fix 'em for free if it's under warranty.
Hope this helps.
