what is the R-button to clear out a malfuntion?

what is the R-button to clear out a malfuntion?
Where and what is the R-button, which come up on the display (by gauges) when you have a malfunction? It just says to reset hold down the R-button for 3 seconds. I don't have a manual. 2003 C240

I belive the R-button is the small black stick on the display. Just press on the stick to reset your settings.

yup, it's the trip odo reset button. if you hold it, it will reset whatever. if you turn it, it adjusts brightness of the gauges.
