Good old Coolant Visit Workshop
Popped up today on the way back from work. Had the A/C on... pulled over and let the car run in neutral. Temperature gauge started to randomly jump from 80 to 86 while in neutral. Everytime it Jumped to 86 the "coolant Visit workshop" would pop up on my screen. Turned the A/C off and after about 30 seconds temp gauge maintains a steady 86 and I get to drive home another 15 minutes to safety. Checked all fluids when I got home and everything is ok. No leaks, no check engine. I read a few coolant visit workshop complaints around here but not too many on the m272. Any insight? head to the indy just incase or try to tackle myself? I am at 137k right now... first hikkup in awhile so it's not too bad. Let me know what you guys think

Might be a problem with the fan
restarting the car cleared the message but i think that there might be a problem with the fan.... might have to go with a new one of these ??? http://www.rmeuropean.com/Part-Numbe..._5C1313F8.aspx
or Could it just be a sensor? hhmmm... I did top off the windshield washer fluid and I have been reading about these problems in the earlier models

Apparently the module goes bad on the fan.. Check this thread out on benzworld for anyone else that might have this problem for the future. I am replacing mine and will report back http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w203...message-2.html

can't believe I missed that thread earlier. Yeah I spent $515 total on my fan assembly as well. Your right that a few repairs here and there are not too bad if the car has already lived a long time. It's just a couple screws anyway

There was also some discussion about it in my "Official" Thread. Never bothered with a write-up, as I thought I was the only one on the forum that had it fail. You are the only other M272 equipped W203 on the forum that I know had to replace it. Finally ended up ordering from MB of Annapolis for $388.80 shipped, once I sorted out the correct part number.
