Cutting Tein S-Techs
Whose done it? How much did you cut?, im on CLS500 wheels (28F/33R offset) and I'm pretty damn disappointed with the drop that I got from these
this is after it settled too
I'd like to see pics of them after they were cut and settled too if possible. thanks

ahh I forgot to put this in the OP, this car isnt going to be performance minded at all since I have a dedicated track car, just gonna be a daily, so the usual "its too bumpy, rides like crap, blahblahblah" doesnt really bother me. This cars is just gonna be low and slow. And as far as the risks, I have the proper tools and everything so I should be fine + I put these springs in so no big deal. This car is an 03 btw so it did get lowered a considerable amount already.. just not low enough.
sorry if this sounds douchey btw. rereading it, it kinda seems like it does. and congrats on become a mod

Teins are actually softer in spring rate than the OEM ss springs. If you want a moderate drop with good comfort get the eibach springs. Sell the teins, cutting will mess up the spring rate and be worse later on.

+1 what he said, i had the S tech on my coupe, hated every minutes of it, then my stock shocks start loosing it, i am sure cutting it would make it worse

makes sense but i dont want to go through the hassle of buying and selling, i have the stock 2003 springs (4x4 status) and the stechs. which would be better to cut? id think that the stechs were stiffer so those would be better to cut (which would equal it out to the overall softness of the stock spring?)
im thinking 1/2 a coil in the back and 1-1 1/2 in the front

The stech are already softer than the stock springs so cutting it make it even softer. Your car will feel sloppy and unresponsive compared to stock ss springs if you cut it. But if you cut make sure you paint the area so it doesn't rust. I would rather go through the hassle of selling and buying then having to do it later when you're driving on a broke spring. Just me though.

The stech are slightly stiffer but cutting them will change the spring rate quite a bit. This will also change the weight distribution from the front and rear. I just think its more of a hassle removing the springs cutting them reinstalling them, seeing if you cut them enough, having to recut if its not to you're liking then reinstalling, when you can just buy new ones that have the correct spring rate and better drop. If you wanted to close the gap H&R does the job. If you search through the pic thread you'll see a lot of members choose either h&r or eibach. Stech usually do a good drop on c240, c320 & non ss models but it varies.
I say sell the stech and get h&r, good drop, stiffer rate, and car will handle better.
Also don't make the mistake of cutting too much or you'll end up having to buy new spring in the end and not be able to sell them.

I wouldn't cut the springs. The performance shop wanted to cut my H&R to drop it a bit more but I was happy with my results so didn't go through with it. I didn't want to risk having to repurchase parts.

I'm not too worried about the performance aspect since this car will be mostly aesthetically modded. I got pretty disappointed with the cars performance a while ago haha
has anyone even cut their stechs? cant find anything from searching. i know people usually cut a coil off their H&R to close up the gap so i'm thinking 1.5 in the front and .5 in the back since I wanna go pretty low

Eh, everyone says not to do it, but ya still wanna do it. I say, ya just cut off 2 coils off the front and be done with it. You can ask pogijeffery about his experience w/ cutting his H&R springs. He seemed happy w/ them (he was selling his H&R + koni yellows) a while back.
There are some peoples who have also cut their eibachs. 2 coils up front and one in the rear. Just do it and call it a day.

from his build thread it looks like he just cut 1 coil off the front but his car looked way lower to begin with. Do H&R sports really go that much lower than teins? I'm still planning on 1.5-2 Front 1 back

oh man. that is why I didnt get wheels on my car till I lowered it. hahaha!
Just do the 1.5 coil cut up front and 1 in the rear. Pretty sure I saw a pic of a silver brabus kitted w203 w/ that exact cut on his springs. looked fine to me. Not suggested, but itll work if you absolutlely wanna do it. Pair it up w/ some aftermarket dampers and you'll be fine for a long while :x

this is 1.5 off the front, 1 in the back. gonna cut another .5 off the front later
for future peeps, 2 in the front and 1 in the back is perfect for the flush look

Completely different my friend. Slammed is just being lower. Flushed/stanced is making low offset wheels fit by stretching tires, neg camber to make it fit "flush" with the car body. If flushed is just slammed them low riders are then considered flushed. Shoot Hellaflush is starting to become popular in Japan in the past few years.

true.. my vocabulary and terms has been destroyed by the socal stance scene haha
i have a question for you though, what fender work did you have to do to tuck tire in the front? just roll and slight pull or did you have to grind anything off?
i wanna go down another .5 coil to even it out with the rear but idk how turning is gonna be haha
