Do you guys worry about your hood ornament being pulled/ripped off? Or had it pulled off or stolen before?

It won't come off without a fight.. I have thought about it from time to time, but ultimately what can you do? It's been safe for 7.5 years now.

Beh......although the Coupe doesn't have one, I used to have a 190 that did. Never worried about it, figured if they managed I knew where to have another on put on. Would MUCH rather them snag a trophy than key the car. Er....also it could be karmatic payback related to a Jag hood ornament in a galaxy far far away....

Haha ya I go to Walmart alot to and no ones done anything to my car there, even if they did there's a ton of cameras in there parking lot. But as for the hood orniment I have never had anyone steal myn but when my car got keyed last year I could tell that they tryed taking the hood orniment too from how bent it was. The body shop that repainted my car was able to pop it back into place. My dad would always tell me stories about how when he lived in Iran 30 years ago and had a Mercedes every month or so someone would pull off his hood ornament. He would keep a couple of extra ones in his trunk and throw a new one on. Back then he would buy them for $10 and they weren't as nice as the ones that are on mercedes now a days. When I visited Iran 2 years ago I bought one for $8 just to have one to put up In my room as decoration, I have a hood emblem drilled into my shelve, true MB inthusiest right here

Well Salam Khoobi Peydidy! lol
I was talking to my girlfriends friend and she said she got pissed at her boyfriend and tried to take it off of his car with him in the car. She said that thing didn't even budge! After hearing that I was not so stressed of my hood ornament being taken off! lol
My girlfriend however did spit on his car when we were in his apartment accidentally. I made her clean it off cause I felt like my brother was being disrespected! haha

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
It is spring loaded to prevent injury to pedestrains, but I use it as a sight to "encourage" slow movers to get going.
A guy in Hong Kong sells a switch that beeps the horn when it is disturbed. The car wash guy nearly had a coronary.
I've never really had anyone fool with it.

Had mine stolen when I lived in Italy. I guess the Italians thought it would be ok to steal the star and leave a stem. It was my old '90 190e that I ended selling anyway.

I have thought about it. I used to hear back in the 90's they used to rip them off all the time. Haven't heard any MB owners mention it lately. I go to Walmart all the time. No problems. Although at Walmart, I park all the way at the back of the lot away from other cars Now dings and scratches from random buttheads? That's my issue at this point.

Were the 90s Benz stars not securely attached? The one on my car can be spun around, bent forwards and backwards, etc.. It is very secure. If someone's going to pull it off they better be strong or be willing to work at it.

I have the DFWDude flat hood badge, so no worries about it. My upright star is actually sitting on my desk in my office as a paperweight. But...
exactly!
agreed.
really? you do realize that most of the new SUVs in the Walmart parking lot cost more than a w203. just because it's a "Benz" doesn't mean much. but, some Walmarts are damn hood, lol. there's a reason why I go to Target instead.
I take the w203 when I go to a public place like a football or basketball game or somewhere in the hood or have to go get groceries or where you have to valet. yes, it's a good car, but it's nothing special where you have to be careful.

As people have said, the hood ornaments aren't easy to rip off, but it does happen. My W210 had one stolen once. But on my coupe, the thing I worry about is the back star. I have had it stolen 3 times now. But all 3 times have been outside of friends' houses that are in ghetto neighborhoods.

Oh yeah!!! ++++++++1111111
That is what I worry the most. Freaking making me paranoid all the time when I leave me car. Heck. I am even tripping while parking at home at the complex parking garage. Pissed me off when they are close to my car, because I know they will hit my door panels and also judging the angle of if they open the door and where it might land in my door panel. I end up looking up and down to see if there are any dents. Crap...
Also, parallel parking, making sure there is more than enough space for the people parking in front and rear of me, so that they won't hit my bumper leaving scratches.
Darn.. I am loosing it.. am I?
