Question Which rims should I get?

I'm split between a few set of rims that I am interested in getting on my C320. I am currently looking at the OZ Superleggera, OZ Classe w/ Polished Lip, OZ Opera w/ Polished Lip, or BBS RX. The C320 is Tectite Grey...my son and I are debating that if we go with the superleggeras, what would the proper colour be? I think Brilliant Silver would look best, but he believes that the Titanium Grey finish would be best. For the other three designs, we agreed on Silver. Any imput would be appreciated!

Sorry, I'd keep looking You have a dark car. Go chrome, unless you're looking for the racer-look. It will really make the car "pop!" The wheels you have chosen don't seem original or intriguing. I wouldn't take a second glance if I saw them on the car. But, it's all a matter of preference and the only person's that matters, is yours!

Yea go for the chrome. I didn’t like the ones you posted and do not get the same size as the originals if you are going to get the same size don’t waste your money and lower the car. Chrome and drop that car has a killer look. If you wanted to get the sporty rims you should of bought a silver car.

BBS

Here are some 18inch LMs with the gray center on a Tectite C.
Not exactly your setup, but may give you some idea.

brilliant silver or polished metal may look quite nice...and even tho i have the anthracite dark grey color rims on my volvo, it just doesn't seem to look quite right on the c-class...

Well my son and I liked the Silver and were aiming to get that for the C-Class, but the spouse didn't want a Silver car and this was the only other colour we could agree on. Oh well, the rims are going to be 18x8's all around so they will not be the stock 16 inch rim size. I will have to look into the Chrome wheels, thanks for the imput

i think tectite is the best color available. Get the BBS's but in 18". Have you thought about a staggered setup? Maybe 18x8 up front and 18x9.5 in the rear(i don't know if those sizes are available). That would look even better then 18x8 all the way around. Also stay away from chrome. I know some people like it but i think chrome is tacky, not to mention the chroming process actually weakens your wheels and adds weight.

I would get the 18" BBS RX, and try to get spacers for the rear. That way they would look staggered but not be. The reason being, I dont think they make the BBS RX in a 18x10, only a 18x8.5. I think you will be happy. if you aren't, send them to me and I will take care of them:p

Thanks for the compliment. It is a C32 so those are the stock pipes.

Wheels are staggered BBS LM 18x8.5f and 18x9.5r. These have a lighter gray color that looks good with the Tectite, (Tectite is the best color that these come in IMHO . I do agree you should stay away from the darker gray centers (and black) on the wheels with the Tectite.

After I got these I realized how important that "shiny" lip was. If it didn't have that it would be "wrong". Just my opinions of course.

The LMs are nice in that they are a perfect fit. Some of the other BBS dunno ?, ... well just call Harris. He knows them very well.

again, thx

Okay here's the breakdown of my opinion: Superleggera: look aggressive, better have some power to back it up and you cant just stop at wheels...body kit, spoiler, kompressor, exhaust, etc
Classe: looks boring, u may as well keep factory rims
Opera: looks classy, very MB style, again nothing out of ordinary, very MB
BBS RX: a mix of perf and luxury, again so many ppl has em b/c they're nice and popular, nothing wrong but nothing creative either

So really it all depends on what u're looking for. Perf look? Classy/pimpin look? Do u wanna be notice stand-out or just look nice?

Don't buy rims that weight more than 12 lbs.! Check out this months Sport CompactCar magazine, they have the specs on hundreds of wheels. My priority is weight and less bling bling. A 12 lbs. 17" wheel will help performance significantly compared to some tuner wheels like Carlsson that weigh close to 3 times that amount.

Buell I agree that you should get light weight wheels but isnt 12lbs for 17/18" rims kinda expensive not to mention over-kill? I know some forged rims are about 13lbs for 17" and they are about $400 a piece (Centerline I think). Not sure how much bigger names will be.

Regardless, stay away from polished wheels. They look great for about a year. Than you have to polish them. Quite honestly, it sucks!

$400 isn't terrible compared to some tuner wheels that weigh a lot more, including AMG for more money than that. In the review of all the wheels there were lots of 17" wheels in the 11-13 lbs catagory. If I was buying new aftermarket wheels and had to decide between $250-300 25-30 lbs wheels or $400 for wheels weighing half that I think it would be worth it. Not only does it affect your straight line accelleration but handling also as the suspension can react quicker to a lighter wheel.

wow so many posts since this afternoon! Thanks to all of you for your opinion. Its so hard to choose something when you just dont have one that you can size up on the car. I would have liked to get something in multiple pieces, but it is much too expensive as we are not looking for anything too expensive but something around the 3k CDN mark. That should leave room for other modifications.

Also weight is not an issue as I am not planning to run this car on the track anytime soon. I am just looking for something different from all of the other C Classes around the city.

As for the kit, I am considering it, but am most likely going to get the Lorinser trunk spoiler. Im also not looking to be too much eye candy like my son and his Protege 5. (http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...threadid=28368)I think Im going to start a poll soon as I am that indecisive on my decision!

I have thought about a staggered setup, but wasn't sure if it would be worth an extra 3 to 5 bills for an extra inch. Spacers sound intriguing for the back, but I have heard bad things about them and how they can hurt your ride.

Again thanks for all the imput as I am taking everyones comments into consideration before making a decision. Keep it coming

white and whiter
Superleggera looks the best out of those choices you have. AMG wheels are the cheapest out of all the tuners for MB.
