If the 6MT in the 350 is no better than the C230, I wouldn't bother. If I had to get a Mercedes, I'd get an auto.

I believe it's the same tranny, which is a big improvement over the 2002 version, let me tell you.

I thought it was decent enough. Hell, my 2002 manny is good enough to not get a slushbox.

The blue 07 with COMAND and Bi-X is in my neighborhood.

No, no, resist. At 21,000 it is overpriced.

You mean mine is an improvement over yours???

I've been pretty harsh on the 6MT. It's not that it's terrible. It's just that it isn't nearly what it ought to be. The last car I owned with an MT was my Probe (which is actually a Mazda) and it was MUCH nicer than the box (and the pedal arrangement) than my C230K. I can't remember a car that had a tranny I was so disappointed with (except an old VW Rabbit I had where the shift linkage was all worn out. It was amazing that you knew what gear it was in!).

Yes, be glad you've got what you do!

To me, though, a manny would have to be really, really, really, on the level as a truck for me to instead wish for a slushbox. I would instead switch to another marque instead of getting an auto. The MB isn't ideal, but it's not THAT bad.

My wife's C230 is an auto and for an auto it is very good. I agree an MT would have to be pretty bad to want an auto. It sounds like if I had yours, I'd want an auto. I almost want an auto now. Of course, maybe age has something to do with it... but not much.
