Wiper stalk problems, can you help?

Wiper stalk problems, can you help?
Hi all,
As a newbie here I have tried to search the forum to see if anyone else has this problem.
we have a 2005 C200 CDI Saloon and have a problem with the wipers.
They will not operate when turning but they will operate when you push the stalk in to operate once or to put fluid on the screen. I have checked the fuse box info and it appears there is only 1 fuse for the wipers.
Are we right in thinking we need a new stalk or is there an easier fix.
All help would be appreciated as we wil have to get an MOT on the car very soon.

I don't know because I've never been on the co.uk site, but I bet they are the same. There are people from all over the world who post here.
Sorry I can't help you with your problem (though it does sound like a new switch i.e. stalk, is needed).
