brake lining sensor clarification

i remember past posts saying that once the brake lining sensor comes on that i have about 10% of tread left. i just called my service advisor and he said i should bring the car in within 100miles and ASAP. i have 20k miles on my car. so i can hold off for about another 1k miles right?

The sensor hole is quite far from the metal back plate so you do have sufficient brake material left when the sensor is on. But it depends how you drive and how hard you brake. I'd drive for a another couple of weeks or so before bringing it in for service.

Why risk brake damage? You know you need brakes so get them fixed!!!!Why take the chance.

I agree with 20FHK02; you have AT least 1000 miles of typical California stop and go driving before you really need to worry. Why not go for the C32 Brake upgrade instead? BTW, I'm an aggressive driver and I put 2k more miles on them while waiting for my C32 brake upgrade before giving in and replacing the rotors and buying Porterfield pads.

that's my plan is to get c32 upgrades, however the brake squeaking is annoyin me and my cpu only shows that my brake lining is down... not a big issue, but sort of annoying...

Don't be fooled - brake lining = brake pads. Yeah you can hold out a little longer, but for future reference, that's what the computer means when it says Brake Lining Wear. You don't want to let it get so low that you score your rotors and then need those changed as well, but since you're gonna change them anyway with the upgrade, you can probably go for a little bit without worrying.
