Performance Mod recommendations...

Ok, per the usual, this forum is so huge I've spent 2 hours looking and found lots of really good info but not what I am looking for specifically, so please point me in the right direction if I am posting a duplicate here.

I am looking to do some performance modifications on my presently stock C230 Kompressor.

I've seen some really good suggestions in other threads but I am kind of hoping to get sort of a summary of good suggestions.

For example, I saw one on pulley mods for the supercharger... great info, but now that I am looking into it I find there are several different options for this mod.

What are people running out there for mods?
What have you tried that you like? Don't like?
What's the best bang for the buck out there?

I have a few things in mind but I am trying to put together a wish list and then take it from there. Can anyone help me out on this, please?

for throttle lag : http://www.sprintboosterusa.com
K&n Drop in Filters (not really best bang for buck)
http://www.eurocharged.com : tune would bring you the most improvement i think ( have a custom tune on my mustang ) amazing
Loose weight: spare tire etc.
good luck

I find the sprintbooster very interesting and I noticed a ton of people have them listed as one of their mods, but this is the first time I've seen it as a suggested mod. I read up on it and if it does what it says I can see why it is a popular mod.

One of the issues I have with the car is that I have driven supercharged cars before and this is the only one I've ever driven that seems to have a slight delay from the time I put my foot into until the time it responds. It almost feels more like a turbocharger to me, but this explains why that might be. If the sprintbooster will make the difference there I'll order one right now. I'm kind of leery though that they only have one dealer in my entire state... not something I'm used to seeing for popular mods. But with the 30-day money back guarantee I don't see why not.

I'm curious though that you also list the tune in addition to that as one of the things the sprintbooster boasts about is that a tune would have to be done several times to get it right and this can be used instead.

K&N is always a must on all my vehicles!!

The K&N is a drop-in filter, so it doesn't change the routing or nature of the air that comes in. I do have one, but really don't think that there is much potential there.

A sprintbooster is not a tune (do a search for the drama involved in the discussion). A sprintbooster eliminates that odd DBW lag between putting your foot on the pedal and feeling the car move; many say it's a large sum of money for just the perception of speed, but as long as you understand what it does and doesn't do, then it's something to consider. I find them to be a good mod.

I think that Eurocharged has said that their tune can include a change similar to what a sprintbooster does. You'd have to ask them about that, as I have an OE tune instead. AFAIK, a tune on your particular car will not do too much, but since it's pretty inexpensive, it might be worthwhile anyway.

drop in filter, you can do a front mount intercooler, exhaust, header, tune, sprintbooster, pulley.

Unfortunately, there's not a lot that can be done for the 2005 M271 powered vehicle as as as power goes.
However, with gas at $4-5 a gallon, your engine is pretty sexy with 30+ mpg.
While I have more power available, I go super easy on the gas these days, trying to eak out an extra mile or 2 per gallon, and coast on the downhills, use gravity to my advantage.

Mounting a crank pulley on this engine it runs out of fuel when it hit the high rpm's and well, the supercharger is already maxed out.
There was kit from Kleeman, a box that somehow modifies the fuel/air involves some wiring spices, works in conjunction with a pulley to keep it from starving at hi rpms.
But it was damn expensive. 1500-2000 for the pulley and "K-box".

I think ASP can make you a pulley but since this engine has only one stage pulley you end up spinning everything faster which eats power, so the proper way to do it might be to just reduce the size of the supercharger pulley, something that's done on every other supercharged car but for some reason, with Benz the preferred method seems to be a larger crank pulley for unknown (to me) reasons. Mainly fear of slippage, but not sure if that's really an issue.

Removing the supercharger and having it ported might help too, but not aware of anyone who's done it on M271.
Also recently someone here was selling a Kleeman header for $700 which is a great price.
