Aftermarket / "Racing" Seats

Hey guys, I've got a C55, and my buddy is a vendor for Status racing seats. He offered me a pretty unbeatable deal on some seats, so I'm wondering if anyone here has made the switch to fixed-back seats, and how they like it for a DD? I'll probably be going through with it soon if I can unload my OEM C55 seats. (on that note mine are for sale )

Any experiences/observations would be welcomed! Only thing I ask is don't say "your seats are fine, why bother". If that was everyones mentality, we would never modify anything on our cars!

There are so many seat options out there, but the hard part is finding the right mounting solution. I swear, there arent many solutions for the w203 sedan. Mostly just for the coupe. Im interested in seeing where ya go w/ these seats

The people include all the mounting materials necessary with the seats

@MBfanatic, pm sent. The seats are basically perfect condition.

I've got a fixed back seat (Momo) on my crx and a reclining Recaro on my Benz, so I guess I'll throw my two cents in. IMHO, unless you're going full hog and getting a cage or rollbar, a 5-or6-point seat harness, and mount all properly, meaning probably removal of the rear seats, you're wasting your time on a fixed back seat (or seats, if you're getting the passenger one too). They're uncomfortable on long trips, inhibit airflow in the seat, hamper visibility, and will probably be very hard to get to work with your stock seat belts, or at least require some modification.

A reclining "race" seat makes much more sense to me, unless you are planning on gutting your C55. Much more user friendly, and easier to mount/work on.

BTW, I agree with others on your pricing on your classified. Posting a very unrealistic price like you did, while then saying that it's negotiable, either makes you look like you're not serious about selling, or not very willing to actually negotiate. I'd recommend you drop the price in your listing; a set of new Recaros would run around $2k. No set of used seats would go for anything close to that in range.

I don't need comments on the price. I have quite a few inquiries already at the price I'm asking. The fact of the matter is is that if I get this price for the seats I will sell them, otherwise it is not worth it to me, and I have had a LOT of interest already.

the Recaro Pole Position in my buddy's M3 is none of those you mentioned. The seat is comfortable for long journey (I had his car for two month and almost drove it daily and on 2+hr trips), it doesn't get your sweat going like you said, and it certainly does not hamper any visibility as it doesn't have any helmet guard. also fixed back like the Pole Position surprisingly gives your rear passenger more leg room.

The Pole Position is Recaro's least driver-encompassing fixed back seat, it would be most comfortable of their fixed backs. Most are not so open - look at the lack of outside thigh support and relatively small shoulder bolsters.

By "long drives", I meant more like 6-10 hours; my Momo is killing me after 5 or so. The rears of a fixed back seat are basically cf or reinforced plastic only, so yeah, they would be less intrusive to rear passengers.

I just have no idea why a person would want to have a fixed back if they are not going to properly use a harness with it, unless they're poseurs, but that's just my humble opinion.
