'05 C240 oil level warning

91 560 sel, 2005 c240
'05 C240 oil level warning
drained oil, change filter, started replacing oil, poured in 5 quarts and son said indicator was reading as full. I took it at face value as oil capacity was not obvious from owners manual. now understand US 7 quart is in range. Warning on dash monitor appeared often complaining of over fill.
Changed filter and oil again, added US 3 quarts and dash monitor claims level is "OK". d
Do I believe the dash monitor or the information on the internet???
why obviate the dipstick?

Put the car in dyno mode (not sure of steps, but it's on the forum somewhere) and you can get a reading of the level. It will say something like this:
öl:7.6
Proper level for your car is ~8.5qts
öl:7.6

dyno mode seems like a more accurate indicator given that it dosen't use the same oil sensor, off to find dyno mode, thnaks!
Found dyno mode, easy as pie.
page to correct screen with oil reading -.- flipped key to position 2, oil reading 8.5
Obviously I have a broken oil level sensor.
Hmmmm, do I by and change the oil level sensor, or just buy a dipstick???

You have two sensors. An oil low sensor & an oil level sensor. As long as the oil level sensor that feeds Dyno mode is OK you are fine other than annoying messages.
