2005 C230 Moon Roof Issue

Hey everyone,
So tonight when I got home and parked I came to close my moon roof, it was opened all the way back previously. I pushed the lever forward like I always do to close it, when it got about 3 inches away from closing it stopped. I tryed everything after that trying to make it work and it just wont close. It will easly move with no issue until 3 inches from closing. Any ideas on what to do? Also I don't think this could have anything to do with it but I did a throttle reset (the one were you push the gas pedal and all) about 10 mins before this issue started. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

does it move whatsoever? backwards at least? or is it stuck? also did you have the slider thing pulled back when you tried to close it? same thing happened to me a while ago and that was the reason. i had to keep sliding it into different positions and trying to close it and it worked eventually.

It goes all the way back with no problem and moves fine, just when it gets to the 3 inch point from being closed it stops. I had the slider thing pulled all the way back when I tryed to close it, I will try playing around with it a bit more too see if it closes, but so far its not looking to good :/

You have checked for something that could be blocking the track, right? And you are holding the switch in the close position the whole time?

yeah ive seen it where there was a rock or something in the rail blocking it from closing all the way. get a light and check to see if there is any debris in the railing.

Yes, clean it, lube it, should work fine. I had the same problem a few years ago, and a little lube and it's worked perfect every since.

Problem solved! I was about to give up and go shell out hundreds at the dealer to get it fixed then I gave "hatchman's" recommendation a try. I went to auto zone and got some spray on lube and sprayed it on the tracks of the moon roof and it worked perfectly immediately. Thanks so much hatchman and everyone else!

I would get some synthetic grease and lube them down, I think the kind MB uses is quite pricey.

i recommend silicone oil. stuff like wd-40 and other greases that are petroleum based will eventually eat up plastic parts and youll be paying even more in the end. its a thing i learned in my airsoft days lol
