yes the fluid is ok i used the same one
you need a factory dipstick to measure the tranny fluid level correctly
please be SURE you did NOT ad tranny fluid to your engine oil (its been done before...) use your dash to measure oil leve to be sure in dyno mode

It seems low but weve already put 8 quarts in . We couldnt drain the fluid from the radiator hose because it wouldnt come out . We didnt want to burn the pump.

okay. so yes we did mistake the tranny fluid for engine oil... stupid mechanic i was with , i was positive the red was suppose to be tranny fluid but he continued anyway. so i refilled the tranny fluid made sure it was level, car drove great. ended up flushing the engine oil completely, refilled it with 80$ of oil stupid idea waste of money. Now were letting it settle till the morning so we can drain it ( auto tranny fluid will be on the bottom of the pan). then flush it again with regular oil. then final proper 5w40 mobil 1. It was smoking due to the carbon running out of it.
bad day for the merc....
poor baby
atleast shes not broken.
any tips appreciated kinda freakin out here.

You should be just fine with what you have done. Just watch the front & rear crankshaft seals. Some oil might have pushed past them. If so just clean & watch that it does not continue. Oil pushed past rings due to overfull hence smoke.

its just so weird because when i disconnected the tranny pump from the radiator it wouldnt pump. and c230 coupes write up said to attach a 1/2 in clear hose to it. it wasnt 1/2 inch it was a whole inch.

So you drained the trans pan, and replaced the filter? You don't mention a filter.
And then poured the ATF134 into the engine? Your description of events sux ****.
>>okay. so yes we did mistake the tranny fluid for engine oil.<<
OK, so now were you changing the engine oil?! Arrgh.![Rant](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rant2.gif)
How could you f this up so bad?

okay so mechanic f'ed up and filled the engine oil with transmission fluid. we had already changed the filter and drained the pan . put it back on found the proper tranny fluid location. Filled it with exactly the amount we took out. But we encountered a problem because the place where we tried to put the 1/2 inch tubing on was actually 1 inch. so we couldnt flush that part. we replace exactly however much we took out. then we had to get the tranny oil out of the engine so we used an engine treatment and now everything is fine. Car shifts way better. Still going to check the tranny fluid in a few miles , now that i know how to do this my self i wont f up. I have never been a mechanic , but ive installed plenty of cold air intakes, done oil changes on plenty of cars and ive just assisted in various things. This guy will never be my mechanic again. always check before you do . lesson learned

I forget what diameter pipe I bought, just clear plastic, but it was too small, so I heated up the end of a socket wrench over the stove and reamed out the hose till it was wide enough, then put a hose clamp on it until the job was done.
OK, makes sense now. Too bad you didn't do the whole thing.
