C220 Central Locking Problem
Hi,
I have a 2007 Mercedes C220 CDI Coupe and have been having issues with the central locking via my key fob for a while now.
When using the key fob it can take a while for me to get the car to lock or unlock. I have to keep pressing the key several times and it will eventually unlock/lock.
If I unfold the physical and unlock the door this works fine. The central locking button inside the car all works fine.
I started to have the problem with the original key I got when I bought the car. I though it was a problem with the key as it did seem a little worn.
Therefore I started to use the spare key which looks exactly the same but was like brand new. However, I still continue to have the same problems which leads me to think it isn't a key issue?
Has anyone else had this same problem? Is a sensor issue or a problem with the car battery or something?
Thanks
Sanders

Might be the antenna.
I'll guess your back window is tinted?
The antenna resides at the top of the window under the trim.
Replacing it is a major PIA. Requires removal of the glass I've read.
Total cost is something like 1K US.
Usually get's blown when people take their coupes to inexperienced
tint places that install the tint with the hatch in the up position, which lets water flow to the antenna module and fry it.
You must install tint with hatch down.
Performance is nice, but wow, would I love to have a 220 CDI coupe right now, something we never had in the USA.

Thanks for your reply.
I haven't had the windows tinted although it is something I am looking at having done so thanks for the advice on takin it to someone more experienced.
Will the antenna still be the cause of my problem. Where is it exactly on the rear window?
Can I replace it myself or do I need to take it to a garage.
I will post some pictures for you. The weather is bad here in the UK at the moment so it needs a wash first!
Cheers

Also, I've been reading a few other similar issues on the net and they seem to state that if my key is ok the car should still unlock via infra-red when pointing the key close to the drivers door?
I'm guessing that is the receiver next to the lock?
Mine still doesn't work any better when doing this. Does this mean it is a key issue and I've just been unlucky with both sets off keys?
