2002 C-Class Dead CD Changer -- D2B Fiber Error

W203 (C240 2002 MY) installed new MB CD changer in the glove box. Hooked up the power and orange fiber cables OK -- the only way they would connect.

The power cable works fine -- it can eject the magazine, but I still get the "no CD changer installed" error message just like before installation. Looks like the D2B fiber bus is not seeing the new changer.

Is there any 'wake-up' or programming procedure for this unit?

(Local MB parts person was kind enough to let me substitute another new changer out of the box with same results.)

Much thanks for any light...

Are you sure there's only one way to connect the FO cables? AFAIK, there's no need for any reprogramming. Mine changer installed and worked from the beginning without any dealer intervention.

I think the FO connection to the radio is not pre determined (or molded) As I remember, the cable output from the radio connection must be facing the glove box when connected to the radio. Or else, you might need to load the magazines first?

Did you connect the D2B ring in the order of HU (IN) -> CD Changer -> Tel -> .... -> HU (OUT)?
Or did you take out any existing FO cable used to be there?
