Reverse Issue

I would be grateful for any suggestions on this one please !

Once of those weeks! Car threw an EML, then when parking, could not select reverse or neutral. Could drive home. Next time , EML On, stuck in second gear, C/S light off on the gear display. If engine off and key out , then restart and could change gear selector.gear change reverse to drive is more clunky if that makes sense.

I think either TCU or speed sensor causing lockout, generic TCU error on OBD-ii ,P0702 - Open or short transmission control module circuit - Poor transmission control module electrical connection - Faulty transmission control module - Transmission control module not coded

On a UK (RHD) car is the TCU on the drivers side, and if so how do you get the carpet from under the throttle without too much dissasembly.

Any similar experiences, it is a low mileages 190K 2004 C270 CDI,

Thank

check trans fluid..and the AT plug adapter for leaks

since u have a code for tcu...your plug adapter could be leaking causing fluid to wick up the harness and into the computer (my mechanic claims this almost happend but charged me 600 in labor to clean the harness and replace the park lock seals)

just pull back the floor panel closest to the engine

Sammny's learnin'. Like he said, oil in the TCU, pull up the carpet and be knowin'.
OR could be glycol on the fluid.
Had it ever had a full flush?

Sounds like the typical electrohydraulic pilot bush leak problem. $10 part.

Thanks

I have been travelling but will get in and look at the TCU under the carpet this weekend. It has had a full flush about a year ago, when I think they replaced that seal...

Forgot to update on this one, basically a new shifter unit. UKP 70.00 from a breaker resolved the issue, it was the position indicator switch in the actual gear shift unit in the car.
