Fixpoint roof rack on C-Class? Roof trim removal?
Hello everyone, first post to the forum here as I'd like to join the Mercedes community.
I'd like to get into a used AMG car in the 15Gs or under range. I have two main requirements, 1. the rear seats fold down (seems to be the case in the AMGs and not the C230s) 2. that I can mount a roof rack without hooking through the door sills (because of leaks). The CLK's and E's seem to have the nifty little flap that underneath contains fixpoints (which contain threading for the roof rack bases) but the C-Class dont. I really don't want to buy one of these cars and then hit the roof with a drill to fasten bases to the bare sheet metal. What i wonder is if there is any mounting points under the roof trim? For instance, the Mazda3 has a plastic trim and underneath are the threaded mounting points. Whats underneath the C-Class trim? How hard is it to remove and replace? I wouldn't mind fabbing up my own mounts to mimic the fixpoints and fastening them under the trim.
The other option is go for the CLK55 but I tend to like the styling on the C-Class better.
Thoughts anyone?

I`ve never had any issues with water leak at door sills,... and I usually have my OEM roof rack on my coupe.
