04 230k engine problem

My friend has a 2004 230k. He came over with a check engine light code and the code was (P325) knock sensor. Anyone ever have this problem? The only thing I have heard go wrong on the M271 is the Timing chain.

Thats not the question. I know there is a knock sensor but there is obviously a problem with it. Car feels slower but I dont know if its in actual limp mode.

Oh,... there's plenty that could go wrong with M271,... trust me! But hey,.. that's not the question.

P0325 Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 or Single Sensor)

Usually only transmission issues would trigger limp mode,... you have to be more descriptive,... mileage? How exactly is the car under-performing,...

LOL thanks for the response. Well its a friends car and he just brought it by so I could take a quick look at it. It was indicating bank 1. The car is a 2004 C230k 6MT with 148k miles. He said at about 3k rpm the car feels very sluggish.

If all fluids (including transmission & engine oil) are at proper level and services are done regularly,.... then tell your friend to do a ECU (throttle-adaptive transmission) reset.
