C230K sunroof rattles
I notice that the rattle comes from the cross bar between the two moon roofs. It rattles when the car goes over uneven pavement.
anyone experiencing that?

I don't have a coupe, but I haven't noticed many posts about a rattle there. Maybe it's in the shade pulleys that are located between the two sections. Some people had issues with the shades not working correctly.

My rattles on uneven payment and going up hill. It does not rattle when the shade is closed. I'm going to take it in Friday for this and the fuel gauge issue.

My concern is the rattle is not very loud, so is it something that is expected from a glass roof? Will the dealer even consider it's something need to be fixed?

My sun roof in my Honda never rattled. This roof should not rattle either, your dealership should fix this.

I've had my C230K Coupe with the panoramic sunroof since July 16. Until about November and 5000 miles, the sunroof made no noise no matter what position it was in or how rough the road. In November it started making god-awful creaking noises. The only time it was quiet was when the roller shades were completely closed. Just after Christmas the dealer replaced the roller mechandism. Bringing the car home it now had a new noise from the sun-roof that never stopped completely. Anyway, I was able to fix the new noise by using Amor-All or Vaseline on the sunroof rubber seals. I have to do this every couple of weeks. The really bad news is that the original creaking noise seems to be starting up again. If the creaking becomes any worst I'll take it to another dealer to fix. I really love this car and the sun-roof but noises drive me nuts, as my wife can testify to!

I don't think mine is temp. related because over the past two weeks it's been 35 to 75 and it always rattles. Go figure

I have been paying attention to the rattles, it's definitely louder when it's colder. It's hardly noticable when the car has been sitting under the sun for a while.

I hope this isn't a chronic problem across the entire C230 line. For those who do have the problem, if you knew of this problem beforehand, would it have affected your decision to purchase the car?

The rattle is not a big deal and I fully expect the dealership to be able to fix it, so I would not worry about this issue.

my c230k is in the shop right now for that problem...started rattling occasionally after about 7k miles and got progerssively worse to the point that it would rattle a bit whenever i started or stoped the car or there was any momentum shift...took it in for service A and has been there for 2 weeks now...had to special order the parts and the repairs are quite extensive...they have to unseal the glued glass...not going to get it back for another few days...thats 2.5 weeks for a little rattle...worried now that it wont be put back together as well as it was originally, with the rattle and all

here's a quick fix to your rattling noise from the roof, turn the radio up louder. Just kidding
, I got the same roof on my car. I hope it doesn't show-up on my car. Plus I noted that everyone has had the same problem with fuel gauge mis-reading full, I have the same problem too, but I'll be taking mine in for that. Another issue I've noted with my car is the tracking to the right when I let go of the steering wheel. People say it's the crown of the road, but when I drive the same road in my 2001 Tacoma Pre-Runner it seems to track fine, that made me go hmmm. Asked my brother about it, since he has a E55 AMG, and he said his car does the same thing too, now here's the question, does my car need alignment or is this a trait built in to the car?

LOL! Actually the reason I am not too concern about the rattles at this point because I can only hear it when the stereo is off and I seldom have it off. However, I will have the dealer to take a look at it when I bring it in for scheduled maintenance or other problem.
I have read somewhere that pulling to the right is a trait of MB cars. It only pulls very little to the right, however it can be annoying over time.
this too I will have them check it out next time I bring the car in.

My roof rattles when its really cold and I wash my car. The water freezes between the cracks of the roof while I am driving and it rattles. The noise goes away in a couple of days.
I will see if its rattles in the summer.

It took 5 days for the dealer to fix the creaking sound in my sunroof. I got a Mitsubishi Mirage as a loaner car. Needless to say, I really missed my Benz

I sooooo hope my roof does not develop problems..........I really only opted for it because of resale marketability.....when you have real bad hey fever you tend to use air con...not open windows....let alone flip the lid back....still at least I wont have to polish the roof

My roof rattled pretty badly, but I took it into the dealership yesterday and they replaced the felt and now it's fine. Hopefully this will last.

galaxygrrl - What felt? If I remember correctly I only saw rubber/plastic seals on my sun-roof. It's too cold outside right now to check it in person.
Has it stopped all the noise?

The car came with the rattle. I have just over 1000 miles on it.
As for the felt comment, that is what my service rep said to me. I have no idea where the felt might be hiding on the car. Sorry. Stay warm! I sure don't miss those East Coast winters.
