alarm and tracking info on C
Hi All,
My insurance company wants proof that my C has an alarm/security system and I was trying to find some paper work stating this? Anyone know where I can get this? Do you think a copy of the brochure with standard stuff highlighted will do?
is it stated anywhere that the C can be tracked if it was stolen...or is that jargon my salesman gave me...

I think yr purchase agreement should have all the standard and option items listed. If not, I guess you can go back to yr dealer and make them get one of those list where they stick on the windshield of any new cars they sell and tell buyers what options does the car come with.
If you have Teleaid, Lojack or Boomerang, your car can be tracked. Otherwise, I dont think so.

I don't have the brochure handy, but I think it has several passages regarding security, especially the sections about the Smart Key rolling code starting interlock features, the anti-tow alarm and the Tele-Aid sections.
You can also copy similar pages from your OWNER's MANUAL that go into more detail.

On the related topic of insurance: I was quite amazed when my premium actually decreased when I purchased the C230. My previous car was a Mitsabishi Diamante with 140,000 miles. The car was only worth of couple thousand dollars and it cost more to insure than the C230.

I would say if you canr find the paper works...just go to your insurance agent and show him the alarm...lock it with remote then open the door with the key....

sounds insurance company giving you nonsense
All insurance companies know exactly what cars have included as far as security systems. thats their job. I called my insurance company when I got my new car and he plugged it into the computer and all the security stuff (including number of airbags) comes up. I wonder if they are just giving you a hard time. that's their industry. It would behoove them not to know it inside out. Call another company and get a quote and see how quick they move their butt.
