C240 E-Brake issue

Hey guys, so today i parked on the ramp at the fire house. After a call I came back to move my car, and the E-brake wouldn't disengage. The disengage handle had no effect on the brake. I had to manually pull the brake up with my hand. and it pushes down and pulls up easily. Later on I pulled the handle more to test the mechanism and the handle its self came out. Any ideas?

Lubricate everything as well. Is the ratchet & pawl still operating? Plastic part breaks.

I know this is way late, but i fixed this problem like a month ago. the release cables from the handle to the mechanism and the cable from the brake to the mechanism came loose. I just had to put them back into place and it was all better.

Experiencing a similar issue, except it seems the e-brake is literally stuck on what I think is the rear-right rotor.

I tried cleaning/lubricating the entire mechanism found under the rear seat to no avail so planning on taking the wheel off to do a visual inspection later today.

Can anyone suggest what to look for? I understand the e-brake is located behind the rotor so I'm assuming removing that would be the first step.

Thought I'd post up in case anyone else experiences the same problem.

After removing the wheel and rotor, I found that the brake shoe which expands inside the rotor when you pull the hand brake was completely rusted out and falling apart. Ended up buying a new set popping it in and good to go!

Point of the story - check your break shoe (circled in the attachment) for wear!
