Another Review of 230K

Well,
At least Forbes didn't trash the car. I would have expected such a magazine to look down its long nose at the "lowly" Coupe. But they DID say it WAS a Benz! That's a generous concession (and appropriate, of course) A generally complimentary article, and did you notice their observation of the possibility of a hatchback revival?
They like the auto tranny better than the manual, but since when do bankers, insurance execs, and movie moguls know anything about manual transmissions, anyway?
I still wouldn't compare the Coupe with an Audi TT, though. The TT is great for folks of small stature, but the Coupe is better for Americn sized adults, IMO.

What puzzled me, was their statement about RSX's engine being better than the Coupe's...
Let's see:
RSX: 200 hp @ 7400 rpm ; 142 lb.-ft. @ 6000 rpm
Coupe: 192 hp @ 5,500 rpm ; 200 lb.-ft. @ 2,500-4,800 rpm
The RSX has no torque even at a high 6000 rpm, whereas the Coupe has it all there at 2500...
Around town the Coupe will beat the RSX hands down, and overall, just to challenge the Coupe, one has to keep the RSX revving around 6000 rpm at all times!

Also, I spent some time in the drivers' seat of a TT coupe and found that it fit my rather ample (6'4", 240) frame quite nicely.

personally, i am satisfied with the six speed. i just got my 230 two days ago. from older posts and other reviews, i expected the six speed to be just ok. but once i drove it, it seemed fine. i'm not sure if mb changed the shifter or if the c7 package made the throws shorter, but i remember sitting in a six speed in a showroom when the car first came and the throws seemed long. i am very happy with the car, and i feel the tail is a love it or hate it design (like an is300 or tt). i love the car, and i will post pics soon.

Maybe it's hit or miss on the 6 speed. All but one review I've read dislikes the manual. I've had my manual C230 for almost 4 months and it shifts fine and if stolen or crashed I would replace it with another manual. It doesn't have that crispness some sports cars have but it's not a sports car.
