That is one of the reason serious drag races went to automatics 35 years ago.

So why haven't we learned yet Lynn? I just don't know what makes me want to buy manual trans cars anymore. How can you talk on the cell phone, look appointments up on the PDA, work the stereo, eat a breakfast burrito, sip coffee, shave and still find time to shift.

Yes, you do suck. I ran a 15.7 in a Saturn Coupe. I won't make you cry by telling you what my bikes run.....

See, now that's what I like to hear...let the excuses continue

Yeah, I can see the temp really killing a supercharged car.

Don't forget holding a muffin on the other hand while getting your car washed.

LOL. I suppose we get standard trannies because they're more fun than automatics. And we're not serious drag racers. Or we are demonstrating our independence and manliness. Or maybe we're just a couple of old fuddie duddies stuck in the last century who refuse the master the 21st century skills you listed.

I can think of a few other reason I choose a manual. Also keep in mind how significantly DIFFERENT a drag auto is from what MB would've provided.

The TH400 that was in my monte carlo ss was nothing like a normal manny, a. the internals were straight up hardcore with a sick stall b. You HAD to shift it like a manny, just no clutch, 1 -4 was a straight line, downshifting was another story. This thing was not what you would call streetable.

But back to easy... why would you want to fool yourself into thinking you're a great driver by hopping in a car or configuration that makes it easy?

And back to topic... why does everyone seem so let down?
Does anyone know what the last C230 C&D tested was? Was it tuned or stock?
Blah, blah, blah-blah

I only got manual for these reasons, auto takes up more power than a manual and my cars doesnt make enough power stock. Its more fun "fun factor" and the 6 speed appealed to me. I missed driving stick.

I seriously hope nobody here bought a C class (except for maybe a C32 - what a car! :p ) for it's drag racing potential!
