Delivery tomorrow!!!
Selling my old car wasn't fun. Driving a rented Geo Metro for 6 weeks wasn't great either. Having to wait for my house refinancing to go through before I could place my order was downright irritating. Tomorrow it will all pay off. I'm picking up my C230 with black/oyster leather, 6-speed, K2, C5 and COMAND. It's supposed to be a beautiful (if windy) day in the Bay Area. I'm getting a ride up to Marin, then driving the new baby home over the Golden Gate. I've even got my personalized plate reserved with DMV: VYTAMN C.
My partner may have to peel me off the ceiling. A 33 year-old car nerd gets his Benz. Whoopee!

Congrats! I recently sold my car and borrowed an Suv while I wait for my car. Another 2-3 weeks according to the dealer.

Here it is!
Took delivery on Saturday. The integrated phone system and COMAND rock! With Sprint Voice Command, I just say "call home" into the air, and the phone starts ringing. Too cool.

Congrats on your new toy! Although black is not a great color here in NM, it looks beautiful, especially with the Java? interior. Is it really Java or am I seeing something different than the Oyster? Everyone's photos are making me an anxious parent-to-be.

Years of experience parallel parking in SF! Wow, it really does look very close. Now the only thing that freaks me out is stopping on a hill, and trying to shift the manual without rolling back. Kind of hard without a real emergency brake!

Monterey/Colors...
I WISH the interior were java. I had a 2000 ML320 that was java/black. Alas, for 2002 in the C230 oyster was as close as I could get.
About Monterey--I'm seriously considering it. My partner has told me that I need to go and do "car talk" for a while with other car nerds (or "geeks" if you prefer) as he just doesn't get the appeal. Why does opening the sunroof from outside the car cause such joy? Same reason I loved my radio-controlled R2-D2, I guess.
It's a good thing he likes Peet's Coffee, Nanci Griffith, Peter Greenaway, etc.....

Just plain, flat, basic black (040). I had a '98 Passat that was a color called "black magic." It was black with lots of other colors (subtle) with an overall metallic effect. Honestly, I think plain black is my favorite car color (although I'm terrufued that I'll wash it incorrectly and get swirl marks all over it!!!)
