Tranny go crazy?
hey guys, i was wondering if any of you had this happen: floor the accelerator, hear the engine rev but the tach doesnt change, then all of a sudden it's past redline, but you have no power, and then it upshifts but is still revving pretty high with no power.
happened to me last night when i got off the freeway. i was like "wtf!?!". anybody know what happened here? thanx.

I've never ever heard of anything like that. Does it still do it, or did it stop? If it always does it, I would stop driving it and have it towed into the dealer. Hopefully they will be able to figure it out. Not likely though.

yes. it happened to me. instead of shifting at 6200, it does it at 6500 and the whole car is in slow motion. but when i'm flooring it, i'm also fooling around with the speed shift. i think i confused the computer maybe. but, with out the speed shift, and just flooring it, i have no probs.

and yeah, moomeh, it did just that. went to 6500. but i wasnt playing with touchshift, just flooring it.

It happened to me serveral times. Went to 2 dealers and I got the MB default answer - we didn't see anything wrong, there is no error code from the computer. Well, i guess there is a bug in the shifting program. We may need to live with it. I think it's good to bring the car to the dealer see what they can do, but don't have too much hope.

correct me if i'm wrong. from my understanding, it is ok if the car goes into red in mb since these engines can stand up even in the 8k. the reason the car shifts early, 6200, is well, your power band already hit its highest and there is really no need to rev up any higher (waste good fuel for no reason, and don't experience much power....as if you are in a standstill). therefore, from flooring it or by playing with the speedshift, happened to me both, the car revving above 6200 should not be a huge concern since the engine can handle it. why it did it i think is that when flooring the car unexpectedly/downshift fast, the computer just does not process 'shift up' command fast enough.
