fuel pump confusion...PLEASE HELP!!!!

I am replacing the fuel pump on my 2001 C200K and have run into a bit of a SNAFU. The connecter on the pump in the car already is not the same as the one i purchased, which is supposed to be for my W203 and looks like the exact same one from the dealership. I have some pictures to help explain.

The first 2 pics are the pump i took out of the car, which for some reason has this flat 4 connector on it and an obviously different kind of pump from what the manuf. shows.

The next 2 are the new pump i got from ebay and looks just like the one at the dealership.

the next one is the 2 pumps side by side and then the connecter that comes out of the tank.

can anyone please tell me what the hell is going on with my fuel pump. *why does my car have to be retarded compared to every other w203 on the road. *please help!!!

There are, simply put, different pumps. At least 4-5 different part numbers for this pump.

You must have a dealer look in the parts catalogue for your specific chassis number, because apparently they changed from a 4 pin connector to a 5 pin or vice versa in the early years.

You can also google "w203 fuel pump 4 pin"
